We know so little about the oceans and seas of our planet and the life inhabiting those waters. Perhaps if we invested in studyi ---

That was a most excellent slide show, again thank you for doing this for all of us here at the Wonkette to enjoy.

The ocean looks like an alien planet..

We would be impoverished without the passion of these ocean photographers who find wonder everywhere. So cool! Thanks, Martini.

I couldn’t help but notice that in none of the scenes of shells could I see “8647”. So, is it not a naturally occurring event?

Dave's Not Here's avatar

Have no fear. Nature is going to 86 47 sooner than later.

In other good news (sorta) it seems that there are now 58% who say they’r worse off now than 4 years ago, and the increase is mainly fueled by disaffected Republican Voters. A plurality (40%) say their personal situation is “much worse”. This is only good in the context of how much of a wave this election might be, but it doesn’t look good for the current majority.

The Capuchins in Detroit have been doing Very Good Things for decades. They respect the dignity of the least of us, and do it quietly without preaching or expecting praise in return.

They are one of the charities I split my extra pennies with, and FFS the Blessed Father Casey needs Jesus to help him out and get him his second miracle do he can become an official saint.

I'm getting over my irritation, so here's where I are in a current story line:

A US Ambassador's daughter, missing for over a month, turns up. She's been hiding in a seraglio to get away from her parents, and it's revealed she's a month pregnant by one of the harem guards. The ruling prince is ticked off, as harem guards are traditionally eunuchs so this guy's clearly lied on his job application.

The girl's parents decide to put the best face on it and get these two lovebirds hitched (it's 1938, so you expect that), but objections start getting raised. The baby daddy's Greek Orthodox, the baby mama's Southern Baptist as are the parents. The Grand Mufti offers to officiate, but is glared at, and the pair are married by a freighter captain aboard a ship in the harbor.

Where did John Roberts get the idea that it's not corruption unless the person committing it says in front of at least three witnesses, willing to testify, "just so we both understand, here, I am giving you this money in a corrupt act, you taking it is corrupt, and we both know that me giving you this money and you taking it to violate your oath of office is illegal but we are doing it anyway, agreed?" while wearing a t-shirt that says "I pay politicians for favors"?

Maybe from m*****f****r Antonin Scalia who wrote a dissenting opinion on a Supreme Court decision concerning the Endangered Species Act that it's OK to kill endangered species unless you say in front of at least three witnesses, willing to testify, "I am killing these animal that I know are endangered species, simply because I want to kill these specific animals that I know are endangered species and for no other reason" while wearing a t-shirt that says "I love to kill endangered species for no other reason than to specifically kill them" that is being used as the basis for a new rule for the Endangered Species Act that will render it meaningless.

I have nothing to say that doesn't need near complete redaction in accordance with the Commenting Rules for Radicals.

He used to play that game where you stand in a darkened bathroom and look in the mirror and say “Martha Murtha” three times and you’ll see a ghoul appear in the mirror?

It’s like in Saudi Arabia where the man can simply say “I divorce you” three times and it’s done?

A genie comes out of a lamp and grants him three wishes of which “make me a mentally healthy human” is not one?

Funded PUBLIC HEALTH would save so much money - checking on Mom’s and Babies - checking on seniors ….. it would lessen the crowds in our emergency rooms. (As always cruelty is the point with the rethugs)

This date in history…

2025—The Presidential Sharpie scribbles on NSDM-7, re-defining reality. Now if you don’t love America, Christianity, or capitalism enough – or if you love immigrants too much – you’re fomenting political violence.

2007—Because Judge Sharon Keller refuses to work overtime, Texas gets to kill Michael Richard on schedule.

2002—Disregarding facts, George W.[MD] Bush says, “You can’t distinguish between al-Qaeda and Saddam when you talk about the war on terror.”

1961—State Rep. E.H. Hurst murders Black voting advocate Herbert Lee at mid-day in Magnolia, Miss. Coroner’s jury: “justifiable homicide.”

1959—The U.S. Navy loses a nuclear depth charge in Puget Sound. Fortunately it’s lacking a fissile core.

1957—Nine Black kids get to enter Little Rock High School, courtesy of the President and the 101st Airborne.

1945—Vietnamese of all factions massacre French civilians in Saigon.

1926—Henry Ford announces the eight-hour, five-day work week.

I'll thank the mommy blog for bringing me the story of the Inaccessible Monument on a hill inside a Detroit freeway cloverleaf. I needed a deeply metaphysical mystery to ponder and this story gets the job done.

However I do feel motivated to point out that the Denver International Airport also has an Inaccessible Monument inside a network of airport entrance and exit roads. It is called Blue Mustang. It is MASSIVE, blue and a huge source of dick jokes in the Denver area. (I am not kidding about the dick jokes. I also point out that Blue Mustang is DANGEROUS to get anywhere near.)

Ooops, the FBI don't Cyber good : (

Guess their new MAGA motto "Learnin' is four fagets" isn't working out so well.

Maybe the hackers could finally find the Epstein Files?

***FBI hack is even worse than it seems***

The hacking group, ShinyHunters, got access to the FBI’s online jobs portal, including information on current and former agents, job applicants, home addresses, job histories, spouses—you name it, they got it.

Reuters learned that the 5,000-line spreadsheet—which the hackers released as a little taste of the full two- to three-terabyte trove of data they stole—contains information on who was assigned to sensitive divisions like intelligence, security, and counterespionage.

It scooped up staffers working in groups with names like “China criminal enterprise unit” and “Russia Critical Infra and Tech Threat,” as well as sensitive information on all FBI staff—which is about 38,000 people.

I was a little kid who lived maybe 15-20 minutes from the Arlington Heights Jewel store & some of the victims' home when the whole Tylenol thing was happening. We didn't have cable, so there was SO MUCH COVERAGE of that on all of the news & local morning shows, etc., as well as the general angst from my Mom & the clearing of all Tylenol from the medicine cabinets & cupboards. Formative memories are unlocked every time it comes back into the news.

P.S.: The extortion dude was never a reasonable suspect for the actual poisonings IMO.

Diane's Less Hostile Username's avatar

That must have been terrifying for your mother.

eliz_'s avatar

She always had a random assortment of pills (Tylenol, allergy meds, tummy-related stuff) tucked away in her purses & travel bags (I do the same now), so it was a THOROUGH sweep.
