I know, GRR, doesn't owe us fans anything, but I also fear his works will have to be completed by Brandon Sanderson, as was the Wheel of Time series, by Robert Jordan, when he died of cancer. (Which is a great series too. if you have the time.)I thought they did a great job with the characters, in GOT, not like the True Blood characters, who were changed entirely, and went completely off script in the first episode. Charlaine Harris, the author, was not involved, and this has served as a "What not to do," warning for other authors.
Yes, Dunk and Egg's adventures are nice light reading after GOT, and all the intrigue. He could get a ghost writer fan and turn out lots of those. Even as a young Adult series. I have ended up reading many of those, because my local library is prone to purchase way too many books, with Amish lady wearing a bonnet on the cover books. (Is it Amish porn?)
I feel a little idiotic expounding about Russia when you're of Russian heritage...at least as far as your crazy Russian nana. My apologies. I don't know that anything that Russia did to it's indigenous people is any worse than what we did. If anything saved any of them there, it was physical isolation. And I doubt that even now our indigenous people are any better off than they are in Russia. I wonder if they have casinos there?
I have watched the first three seasons and thought it was pretty well done, but stopped because I wanted to read the next book first. But he has yet to write it, so it is annoying that the series wrote their own version of things.
They even kept the T-34 under wraps to throw Hitler's boys a surprise party. Hitler thought there were no more Russian soldiers left to play with, so the sudden appearance of a new Russian army was a most effective surprise. The shock killed a lot of Italians and Hungarians and eventually the Germans and Russians got together in Stalingrad and the the Russians took their counterparts on a little stroll to Siberia.Good times.
