His brother was his business partner. I'm not sure they're still in business together, but he's FAR more low key than Trump. His sister is a judge, and I have no idea if she's a wingnut or not. I suspect they are not a close family, since I haven't heard anything about his brother in YEARS.

We're fucked! I've known this for a while, but it gets clearer every day. I'm not sure how we're going to right this ship, but we need to do something about the courts.

Good thing our ancient fore-bearers weren't libertarians or "rugged individualists" because we'd probably be extinct by now. That whole individualistic construct doesn't make any sense from an anthropological point of view, humans thrived because they formed groups and societies. That "rugged individual" solely dependent on his "bootstraps" and Moxie is a smokescreen deployed by millionaires and billionaires who don't want anybody getting any wise ideas about the collective benefits of co-operation and egalitarian dispensation of resources. A myth bought into hook line and sinker by the rubes that keep the GOP in power.

I'm on a Republican mailing list, god knows why, but they send me SO much shit. I get at least 25 emails a day from them. Little does Crenshaw know, that I wouldn't read his book if HE gave ME $45 dollars.

Speaking of Ron Paul, I once spoke with a guy who had worked on Paul's campaigns. He told me Paul switched tickets from Libertarian to Republican because he was tired of losing elections. And indeed that's when Paul started winning. Perhaps Amash could learn something there.

Amash has some hurdles to get over before he, or the Libertarian Party, can start corralling voters.

First, Amash would have to be nominated by the Libertarian convention, which is now scheduled for the end of May. It might not even happen.

Second, the Libertarian Party is only on the ballot in 36 states so far, and they are lacking the requisite signatures in the other 14. Going door to door in an attempt to collect signatures from strangers at this time of social distancing is a definite uphill battle. Currently, the game plan of the Libertarian Party is to fight in the courts for the right to be on the ballot even without the requisite signatures. The courts have indicated that they're not impressed with that argument. Also, it's very unlikely that the officials in the remaining states who would have to grant a waiver to the Libertarian Party (usually the governor or secretary of state) would be willing to let a 3rd party in without a fight.

The way a president is elected just doesn’t permit a multiple party coalition...we are not a parliamentary system. It is the one with the most votes in a state is the winner of those electoral votes. So if A has 39% of the vote, B has 38% of the vote and C has 23% of the vote A will win regardless of the fact that A has less than 50%. There is no runoff between the two biggest vote getters.
