Ta, Evan. I know you call TN home, and I sympathize. Now get out there and motivate EVERYONE you know to vote D in November.

Re the Civil War, Repubs are still in the denial stage of grief. And will be there forever, apparently. Am I the only one who wonders whether it might have been better in the long run if the South had won and set up a separate nation?

Here's what the flag that General Lee used when he surrendered to General Grant actually looked like!

If there were any question remaining that Republicans are not afraid of Trump and that they are duplicitously complicit supporting him while feigning fear of him to not lose constituent votes, the gerrymandering campaign, and their disturbing glee this last week should put that notion to rest. The entire GOP and the MAGA members of the Supreme Court have gone full on corrupt-MAGA, and they don’t intend to stop. If they are cowards, their cowardice is the lie they’re afraid of Trump, to even further deceive and gaslight voters. Americans, true Republicans and actual Conservatives, along with Democrats and Independents, must each and all turn out in unprecedented numbers at the midterms to stop what they are doing.

this. exactly.

i'm passed my VA supreme court trauma, but man, damn it is hard to keep getting up and swinging a punch.

Maybe's avatar

trumpy can still hurt Repubs when only Repub vote. Note that I use the term 'Repubs' loosely because Repubs aren't Repubs any more. Which means that voting automatically for the (R) is a fallacy.

These folks are unsound. All the SCOTUS ruling says is that states cannot redistrict by skin color.

Fuck yeah. Burn that traitor flag.

But it's certainly no reason not to be nice to your family members who support this shit 100%.

fuflans's avatar

i don't have any family members who support this shit.

Tessie's avatar

Ha ha, joke's on YOU! I'm not nice to ANY of my family members!

That's why cats were invented. They are scheming little sociopaths, but so are two close members of my family. At least cats are cute and can pure.

It's now up to white voters in every jurisdiction where the new KKK is embedded (or working to be) to vote overwhelmingly for Democrats for every office, every time, until the GOP/MAGA/KKK is completely destroyed.

The only people who profit from the racism of the GOP are millionaires and billionaires, and the panderers (like realtors) who buy and sell homes on their behalf. (Nothing like 6% of a million-dollar sale; $60,000 all in a day's work). The rest of us -- white, Black, brown, GLBTQ, female, lower income workers -- get no benefit from others' oppression, and, in fact, the same oppressors will turn against us as soon as they have the opportunity and the means.

So, white American patriots, STAND UP to SCOTUS, trumpism, MAGA, KKK, and all the Bill Lees and Orval Faubuses and Peter Thiels of the world. Ben Frankllin said it best: If we do not ALL hang together, we will all hang separately.

Maybe's avatar

The GOP is destroyed. Repubs aren't Repubs any more.

Andy Reed's avatar

You're right. They're the MAGA White Supremacy Fascist Party. But they still hold the name "Republican"; and they still have to disappear onto the ash heap of history.

was there ever a time when painting a confederate flag on your car just meant you had a really attractive cousin and your uncle Jesse used to run moonshine? someone i dated in high school lived in the same complex as john schneider in the 90's and i don't live far from there now. never saw his damn car.

Sallyfemina's avatar

Wasn't his car: all of them belonged to the studio.

I expect he drove something as far away from that as possible.

CzechJournalists's avatar

around twenty of them survived the shows stunts, the most famous of them Lee 1was bought by Bubba Watson. Schneider kept making his own (four-ish) and is maybe making another one now.

Sallyfemina's avatar

Probably kept them somewhere where they wouldn't be stolen.

Sallyfemina's avatar

Guess he shouldn't have told everyone where it was. Or at least not the guy who stole it!

Thanks to the Supreme Court, democrats are going to have to rely on the fact that republicans suck at governing to win in November.

Maybe's avatar

Repubs suck at governing, but they are pretty effective at lying and winning elections.

The Reason Trump is Presidentx2 is related to The Reason some people glorify a slavery-based economy so vile that those who ran it betrayed their nation with war rather than recognize the awful reality they support.

I have a valid question to ask.

Where are the high profile country music artists who have made 100s of millions off their listeners in this protest? They live there. They record there. I know they can't be agreeing with this shit either (kid rock doesn't count as he isn't an artist)

They should stand up, speak out and educate their fanbase if need be.

You can't honor the legendary Outlaws (Waylon, Willie, Cash, Kristofferson, etc.) or ignore the dismantling of women's rights and say you're a fan of Tammy, Loretta, June Carter, etc. who sang the truth and educated their listeners to the plight of women to their audiences. It's high level hypocrisy if you do.

Silence is Affirmation.

A black neighbor taught Hank Williams how to play guitar. His grandson shared that with me. White supremacists want to co-opt everything. And nothing supreme about them.

I'm southern and white and I know this all too well.

Ok. A-list country stars…you know who you are.
