Chump, and by extension, all Republican candidates are just going to continue to deconstruct in front of our eyes over the next two weeks.

They are utterly helpless against joy.

I needed to read this at this moment. I looked at the polling about ten minutes ago and my anxiety started ramping up. Even though I know the polls are biased, and Trump is getting more demented by the hour while Harris continues to shine, I still panic. But my lovely Wonkette is here to provide hope.

I felt the same way after reading two WaPo articles yesterday about all the sexism and about PA voters generally. And the ridiculous piffle people post on that cesspool, nextdoor. Can't wait for all this to be over with

The young'uns aren't being polled and the republicans are flooding with low quality polls that are moving the needle right.

Ignore the polls and while it is close, the early voter data is encouraging. Harris has 2-3-4 lead in the national popular vote polls and is closer to 270. She has a huge war chest. Since dobbs Dems have overperformed the polls. She has a huge ground game.

Republicans and spacenazi are really trying to make it seem the election is slipping away from Harris via the polls. They wouldn't do that if they were winning.

Remember polls don't vote.

Best thing everyone can do is get out and early vote if you can.

I feel like 1992. Ole Daddy Bush incumbent still running on Rayguns Voodoo Economics,

polls called it a toss up. Voting on election day only. But we felt good, we had lived that economy for way too long and were done with him. And won. Took me 2 hours to vote that night in a church parking lot after work, but a happy crowd wanting to wait.

The Quakers (aka members of the Society of Friends) that I've met are actually pretty cool people, and while definitely tending to pale beige, they aren't as Miracle-whip-on-Wonder-Bread white as you'd expect.

Hey Wonkers, about this:

"MAGA Republicans have failed at every voter-suppression attempt they’ve made (so far)."

A big part of why they've failed (because we know that these days, just being wrong and awful isn't enough to ensure failure) is because of pushback led by these folks:

https://www.powerthevote.org/

The Democratic Party of Georgia, ACLU of Georgia, and New Georgia Project are also very active.

These folks are providing legal smarts, filing lawsuits, sending activists to election board meetings, helping voters fix ballot problems, and more.

And finally, as our dear Wonket writers have reminded us before, the key to stopping all this is FEDERAL ELECTION LAW - which still protects against the worst excesses of these voter suppression efforts, and makes it possible for these various groups to push back. No federal law, no more free and fair voting in Georgia (and many other places too)...

I’ve gotten the impression that McDonald’s corporate is not happy about the PAB’s appearance there. I can’t find it offhand, but I saw something sent to all franchise operators that their colors are golden not red and blue, and that they’d welcome an appearance from Harris and Walz. They also added that they don’t have consistent records that go back far enough to confirm whether Harris ever worked there or not.

I don’t know if they could or would take away the franchise from the owner but I’m guessing he’s being “advised” to stay out of partisan politics when Papa Ronald is involved.

"McDonald’s Corp. said it’s not taking sides in the presidential election following Donald Trump’s visit to a Pennsylvania restaurant on Sunday.

“McDonald’s does not endorse candidates for elected office and that remains true in this race for the next president,” the company said in an internal message seen by Bloomberg News. “We are not red or blue — we are golden."

I just daydreamed a nightmare of some new scandal ala Obama's birth certificate where they go and try to dig through old franchise records from the 1980s in Oakland but can't because the ownership changed so much or the restaurant itself was demolished or moved.

I've seen that companies are required to keep employee records for a period of considerably less than forty years, and beyond that, legal advice is only keep what you have to retain.

Anyway, given that she worked there when computerized HR systems were in their infancy, If the records still exist, they're probably on paper or magnetic tape stored in a warehouse somewhere. I worked at a McDonald's around the same time Harris did, and I couldn't prove it if my life depended on it. Even given that I worked for what was, at the time, the largest franchisee in the company, I'd be stunned if they still had records on me. Heck, I can only remember one name of a person I worked with, and that's because we went to the same high school.

I've worked for a restaurant that is no longer extant and may have been in the Aramark system. I wouldn't even be able to prove I was there!

And I'm like, this is the stupidest issue too because of these ridiculous pundits nitpicking everything a Democrat does. When you apply for a job they ask for RELEVANT experience! McDonalds is not relevant to a legal career! I worked at a summer camp as a kid! Did I put that on my resume for my tech job? Hell no! It's the same reason why high school doesn't matter for a professional level!

No sane company wants to be associated with partisanship. If one franchisee pulled this shit with a candidate, corporate HQ would either have to come down hard on the franchisee or otherwise arrange something for the opposing candidate.

The last thing you want is half the country hating your company, unless you're in a niche area.
