As others have mentioned, the real derp here is that KS taxes groceries at all.

No tax on grocery-like foodstuffs here in the tax-happy Impure State though, because It Would Just Be Wrong.

So Very, Very Wrong. What kind of people are they out there in Dorothyland?

Seems like it's got folks there who could use a brain AND a heart.

We don't tax food here in AZ. If we can figure it out, nobody has an excuse...

Nope, no sales tax on food in Maryland (except for fast food/restaurants). We're basically just a bunch of socialists here.

We have no sales tax on food here in Ontario, and it seems that everything is ok? What the hell is wrong with a place that taxes a NECESSITY OF LIFE?

ps Between this and that asshat that wanted to throw relatives of bad people into jail, I am more convinced than ever that there is no limit to the stupid in the GOP.

Lower food taxes frees up money for Tea Party 501(c)(3) contributions, if only the IRS would stop suppressing the votes of patriots.

I had no idea there were places in America that had sales tax on food.

THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?

I am going back to the Teen Korner, this is just sad.

Well, yeah. There is no such thing as an iPad Bank or iPad Drives at school.

Food? They're just giving that shit away...

If by obscurity you mean becoming the darling of the Tea Party and getting a stamped ticket to the House in 2014, then, yeah.

Remember, Kansas.

I forgot how any policy that might help a poor person will automatically be opposed by some conservative somewhere. This is the "poor people don't pay taxes" debate from last year all over again. What's next....? Um....?

(I tried to think of an extreme example to make my point with but everything I thought of has already been taken by an actual conservative.)

...and you said Video Games were EVIL.

This is literally, literally, taking bites out of every meal that poor people can scrape up.

ANY percent is absolutely inexcusable. And don't even get me started with rebates, because we all know what meticulous records that poor folk keep.

Not at all complicated: Poor people buy food, ergo you need to tax it highly. Fancy shit that they can't afford, you tax more lightly, so the jerb creatin' 1% won't suffer quite so much.

It does seem that the reductio ad absurdum trick is getting pretty hard to execute, when it comes to teabagger policies. It's like they've done it for you already.

Actually, cheese poofs are taxed here, as they are not considered "food".

And is it not Kansas that got rid of income tax? But taxing what poor people need to buy to eat, oh no, that's okie-dokie!
