“Speaking about the horrors of the Holocaust is no more offensive than speaking, about the horrors of the Trans-Atlantic Slave trade that impacted my ancestors."

I've heard offensive comparisons of this or that disliked thing to slavery, but I only ever recall those from her fellow Black conservatives like Ben Carson.

Dumbass. Talk about an affirmative-action hire.

When the oppressed rise up, the oppressors pass laws.

This stuff about the Nazis passing strict gun laws is totally and completely false. There was no need for the Nazis to pass a law like that, because the earlier Weimar government had already passed gun registration laws. Ironically in a attempt to disarm Nazis Actually Hitler loosened gun laws except for Jews and other "non citizens"

That being said, if it were possible to overthrow the United States government with guns, it's not even remotely clear how that would be hindered by laws requiring parents to safely store guns so that their children can't get them, by red flag laws, or even with background checks.

I'm just playing Devil's Advocate here, but I would guess that signs pointing to you plotting to overthrow the government might be considered a red flag. Or that if you had tried to do so in the past, it might show up in a background check. Now, you and I might see being insurrection-prone as a reasonable barrier to owning weapons, but to the "I see tyranny" crowd it's a big problem.

I can't see how it would interact with safe storage, however, so they shouldn't have an argument against that.

Also that they watch Rambo type movies and think that will be them in reality, something which Rethugs have a hard time distinguishing from fantasy.

I suspect her desire for power eclipses any thoughts she may have had about social justice or anything else.

I build high end flintlock rifles as a hobby business. Several years ago I was attending a seminar with like minded enthusiasts and one of the projects offered was a German hunting rifle from the 1700's. The instructor had several photographs taken at the end of WWII. When the Americans occupied Germany, Eisenhower, fearing guerilla warfare from SS fanatics ordered Germans to turn in their weapons. The intent was to remove military firearms from soldiers who may have returned home with them. The pictures which were only from one small city showed thousands of guns, mostly priceless old antiques or high end hunting rifles, lined up on the street. Germans, being Germans, obeyed to the letter while the Americans drove a tank over them to destroy them. The idea that Hitler confiscated their guns or that the Germans, who have a long tradition of hunting and shooting were unarmed during his rise is a lie. But it makes for great right-wing fear mongering.

That is deadset true. The Nazis didn't pass strict gun control laws for the general populace, and especially not for ex-soldiers. They did forbid Jews to own guns, but that didn't affect the outcome; Jews were only about one per cent of Germany's population at the time, and if every Jewish man (and woman) had been armed to the teeth, and ready to fight, they still couldn't have done a thing against the brownshirts. In fact taking to the streets with guns would have given the Nazis the excuse they were salivating for. They'd have started the mass shootings and burials even quicker.

There are roughly 320 million guns in the U.S. – but most of them are owned by less than 20% of the population. Which means that some gun owners own a LOT of guns – hundreds or even thousands of guns (many of them assault rifles) since there is no limit to how many guns a private American can own – enough, say, to equip a small private army – aka a militia – of right-wing insurrectionists.

Interestingly, the first six words of the Second Amendment were written expressly to regulate militias – to wit, "A well regulated Militia being necessary..."

Even more interesting, the 2010 right-wing Roberts court ruling that restricts gun regulation was written as if those first six words of the Second Amendment don't exist..

Gun owners are not actually allowed to overthrow the government or assassinate the president, even if they really, really hate the government.

But this is precisely what the FarQ believe the 2nd amendment is for, and screw any sort of sense that could be involved.

The Netherlands figured that if we don't have an army, then the Nazis will accept our neutrality. That... backfired. So here's the massive Nazi army with lots of tanks and modern equipment, and there's all eleven Dutch soldiers with one tank, a handful of bicycles, and three rifles to share between them.

OK, so a slight exaggeration, but pretty close to reality. That said, a small fort with about 70 Dutch soldiers actually were one of the few that stopped the Blitzkrieg, for a while at least. Gotta love bottlenecks, imported modern AA, and sea artillery support.
