Educated guess: 500,000 US deaths by end of 2021. Unquestionably, 250,000 deaths by the end of 2020. Death rate could drop in late 2020 going into 2021, however if Trump is reelected, any mitigation results will be limited by "told you so" science deniers, "get back to work, jerkoffs!" capitalists and "party like it's 1523!" Tea Baggers. Unfortunately, if Biden is elected, any mitigation efforts will be limited by "but my free-dumb!" rallies, "Biden is the devil" Republican politicians and "eek, it's Black socialist muslim abortions!" right wing media.

Judging by the popularity of zombie TV shows and apocalypse movies, Americans assume they'll be the hardy survivors no matter how reckless they act over the next 18 months. Many won't be.

I was going to make a poop joke or similar, but there's nothing remotely funny about any of this. It's so fucking dire.

You know things are getting bad at Fox when the on air talent goes from some people are saying, to I know some friends. (This is like going from a normal fear level Orange Alert: Some people are saying, to this Yellow Alert: I know some friends. Red Alert: It's happening to ME!!!)

If you think the professionals are bad a local bloke got his marching orders in our local footy competition for breaking an opponents jaw, he didn't take it well he decked the runner and umpire on his way off the field. Ended up with a lifetime ban.

Remember when access to abortion was called "adequate" if there is one clinic in the state that could provide? They seem to be using that definition of adequate to mean the same thing.

I didn't at first realize there was an actual Fox News reporter named Ainsley Earhardt (I don't watch Fox except in excerpts at places like this). I thought the reference was to the West Wing character (Ainsley Hayes, had to Google it), an earnest Republican who got hired into the White House after out-arguing Rob Lowe on a talk show.
