This just makes no sense: “The filibuster promotes compromise and consensus-building! But I refuse to listen to anyone about the filibuster! I’ve made up my mind!"
Agreed. The example I give is that if my house is one fire and I call the fire department and they just let my house go up in flames, I will express my frustration with them not with “fire.” I understand that fire is not my friend.
I can see legitimate disappointment from Manchin/Sinema about Republicans not supporting an investigation into 1/6, but it’s just absurd that they would think McConnell and the GOP would support voting rights legislation considering their party is the one passing voter suppression laws at the state level (on a party-line basis).
She seems like she’d be the kind of person who shows up at your book club not having read the book, while at the same time posting selfies on Instagram holding the book and raving about how groundbreaking and honest it is. I’m not making parallels from experience or anything.
so senator sinema, I'm sure since you love the filibuster so much, you would want it for the arizona state legislature too right? the state house is 31-29 republican and the state senate is 16-14 republican. if they have to play by the same rules you want, it's gonna be pretty hard for them to keep minorities from voting there.
Nah. I think she's just not running for re-election. Republicans won't forget that she voted to impeach Trump, twice, and is pro-choice. But what she's doing is ensuring that if she gets nominated by teh Democrats again, she can't win a general election.
Why not instead of nuking it, keep it with a time limit? Say, one month delay, giving the minority time to try and rally public opinion and peel off senators from the majority, and at the end of that month, back to a majority vote? This way, it's not only easier to defend the change (it's a reform, not an obliteration) and we are keeping a useful tool in place if there's a future majority that wants to ram something through before the public has a chance to learn about it.
she's an idiot, pure and simple.

I bet Sinema gets weepy-eyed over the traditions of Jim Crow and slavery too. Why won't someone think of the slave-owners?

My money says she runs as a republican next time.
She doesn't think that. She just says that. It's an excuse she thinks voters will buy. Or, more accurately, pundits.
Republicans expect results.
Ted Cruz, as a freshman senator, shut down the government in an attempt to defund the ACA, which ultimately failed. (And he knew it would fail.)

they can't even keep liz cheney, you think they're gonna put up with a bisexual hipster that doesn't think trump is god?
"...the difficult work of collaboration is what we expect in Arizona."
Tell that to the Arizona state legislature, Senator. Tell that to the Cyber Ninja people.
Happy birthday! That raw sewage thing does seem like a gift. https://media3.giphy.com/me...

I hope so.
