As much as I loath the GOP, it's hard to respect a political party that has such little respect for itself that it excuses or tolerates chronic backstabbers like Sinema and Manchin as members.

While they seem hell-bent on destroying any chance of the Democratic party accomplishing anything of value, they themselves do provide at least a little value as Democrats. With Manchin and Sinema pretending to be Democrats, at least Mitch is reduced to minority leader (a position that controls the Senate, apparently, but we can't have everything).
It may be the hostage mentality. In places like Pakistan, ordinary people and journalists never condemn the Taliban and Islamic extremism openly because they’re afraid of them. It looks like a lot of journalists here are afraid of the Republicans and act the same way.
