That is a false narrative. Israel, just barred women from serving in armor units because they do not have the physical strength to perform the duties of a tank crewmen. They do not serve in artillery or infantry units either. They do serve in border patrol units.

American women can go into combat, but a male employee still can't clean up the women's dressing room at Macy's. WTF did they think I was going to do in there?

If my facts are incorrect, and I have no reason to doubt you, it is because I am an old. My refence point is apparently outdated. I remember the 1968 war, and on into the 70's, there was media footage showing Israeli women fighting along side of men. Thanks for the update. I will conduct some research.

As they say in the military, war is hell.

This is less like fraud, arson, theft, and mayhem, and more like suicide.

So the change in law discussed here is: Allowing women access to that one bridge people always jump off. Sure, it will cause more deaths, but all those deaths will be voluntary. You are giving the impression that you think women need to be protected from their own wishes.

There is a word for that. Also, no one here wishes women into combat, that is a straw-man argument.

Come to think of it, I am pretty sure most people here won't wish anyone into combat, but boys will be boys (even if they are girls).

The subject was poverty being a factor enticing people to enlist.

I never said there weren't other types of scholarships or that poor students aren't smart. If that's how you read my comment you read it wrong.

Although the only students I knew of at my school (early 90's) who received a full scholarship were from low income families.

You are correct, I don't know every person who applied. I also didn't know every student at my school.

My friend at home received full scholarship based on both her test scores and family situation. I'm sure at my univ it was the same.

I wasn't suggesting kids at my univ any different than my friend at home. For whatever reason I didn't know any middle-class or affluent students who received full scholarships. Instead they received partial.

I want students in need to attend higher education tuition free. I felt that way when I was a student and feel the same 23 yrs later. I don't want young people getting killed or injured in order to get an education. With all due respect to those who've served, I don't believe war benefits our society.

Again we had been discussing why people enlist and poverty was mentioned.

Minor point, but 'fighting active volcanoes' seems like it's the same class of activity as 'yelling at clouds.'

There's only one possibly good thing about this: after WWII, Blacks decided they were supposed to have equal rights....

Then look what happened! Uppity "ethnics", uppity women, uppity kids! That's why we needed Jezuz Freaks and Big Money on the South'ron Strategy, so they'd know their place!!!

When I was prepubescent painfully morphing into a regular pubescent, my poor Scarlet O'Hara G.I. Joe saw a LOT of action. Primarily from other 'Joes, though she was known to cavort with He-Man and some Thundercats from time to time. Maybe now there will be some more Lady Joes so future horny lil' bastards can spread the love around. So to speak.
