Not only did he get crushed, but if there had been even a chance of Newsom losing the recall vote, he would have been crushed twice over, because Kevin Faulconer would have run. Faulconer would have been a real candidate, long considered the only realistic hope for Republicans to win the Governor's office and someone that moderates could support, not a grifty, MAGAfied radio host.
