high quality jokes

Dok, THANK YOU for this! I thought I had lost the battle against the unmodified noun "quality" being used as an adjective. You have made my day. From now on, it's "highly-respected Doctor of Rhetoric Marty Kelly says I'm right, so there."

The People vs. Larry Flynt, directed by Milos Forman, is definitely worth a look, both as a film, and as a depiction of Flynt (played by Woody Harrelson). Courtney Love is outstanding as his wife. If you don't believe me, watch.

Larry Flynt was my hero because he didn't give a rats asshole. He was the first to kick sand in the face of the zealots called the moral majority. Jerry Falwell never did beat Larry, thank crom. Larry took a bullet and was made a cripple for freedom of the press and he suffered for it a long time. Yes larry was over the edge, but I was young in 1974 and I read his magazine with gust and zeal lol. FUK the critics, Larry Flynt was the epitome of free speech he had no mercy on stupid republican or democrat politicians trying to stiffel him. His publications were not sugar coated air brushed artsy fartsy bullshit. No woman was forced to appear in it. Just like playboy or penthouse only more in your face some of the funniest shit I have ever read in my life. Hustler kept the religious assholes in check and had them, and stupid republicans grasping for straws to shut him up, they all failed thank crom. I will miss larry Flynt. He was one of a kind. He called a shithead a shithead, thank you Larry for being there when I was young and needed some enlightenment.

Pornographers tend to be not very pleasant people. I remember Al Goldstein, the publisher of Screw, was an incredibly crass, gross, disgusting creature who committed what amounted to oral rape of Linda Lovelace while "interviewing" her.

The difference between the two is that Goldstein couldn't navigate the internet era at all, and while Flynt would go on to become fabulously wealthy, Goldstein would end up couch-surfing, bankrupted by internet hookup ads stealing his magazine's main source of revenue.

"Fun" fact (not actually fun): Cartoonist Dwaine Tinsley (not to be confused with Bruce Tinsley of Mallard Fillmore) was accused of molesting his underage daughter over a period of five years. He was convicted in 1984 and served 23 months of a six-year prison sentence before his conviction was overturned on the grounds that his conviction violated the First Amendment because it was based, in part, on his comic strip. During his incarceration, he continued dispatching new strips to Hustler from from his cell. (lightly edited from Wikipedia)

Ugh. Anyway, the bastard died in 2000. Maybe he and Larry are sharing a pit of red-hot coals right now.

Larry Flynt was a fucking slug. Anyone who has ever seen a copy of Hustler magazine knows this - unless they are slugs themselves. The notion that he is some sort of icon of free speech is fucking ludicrous. I'm glad he is dead.

I never met a Larry I didn't like.

I was also young in the late seventies. He normalized the most gross harassment. He embraced racism and dehumanizing sexism. He had a different version of toxic sexism than the religious nuts, but it was just as toxic. He went with all women are untrustworthy holes as opposed to the Madonna virgin-after-childbirth or you do not measure up.You got lots of organisms but arguing that he was a decent person is just gaslighting masturbations. I would call him a rat person but I do not think rats deserve it.

Yep. Women are not just a collection of holes.

Yeah for all the free speech, no one acknowledges that FOSTA hurts women. It is all about protecting the laaadies.
