Yeah, but on the plus side, RMN did create the Environmental Protection Agency, and he put forth a welfare reform plan that included a Guaranteed Minimum Income. That plan was more progressive than anything the Dems have proposed in the 40 years since then.
By some measures, Richard Nixon's policies overall were well to the left of Barack Obama's. By early 1970s standards, Nixon was a conservative. By today's he would be called a radical socialist.
