I am sitting in my car in NYC during alternate side parking, and wondering why it is so quiet here, and why there isn't a massive general strike and action everywhere in this country.

US Congress is not a co-equal branch of government, All power is vested in "the People" The branches of government are separate but not "equal" The Congress being the direct representatives of the "people" wields the most power. The Executive does not have the power to create laws, levy taxes, or declare wars. He does have some control over the military but only that which is directed by Congress other than short lived emergencies. The Judiciary lacks both the power of the purse and the might of the sword, and exists only to act as arbitrators. Further, The Congress has the authority to remove members of the Executive and Judiciary branches from office, but not the other way around.

This whole Immigration crackdown is a ruse. It's a tactic designed to intimidate and subjugate all of the population However, Americans are an unruly lot, and some will refuse to be intimidated. Isn't there a contingent of the population who believes that the 2A is there so citizens have the ability to defend themselves against a tyrannical government? Those people, if pushed hard enough, may indeed decide to take up those arms.

It's way past time our spineless members of Congress were made aware of these facts and stop kowtowing to this lunatic. Impeach this asshole, NOW, before he does get a civil war started. It's only a matter of time before somebody is going to start shooting at ICE agents, STOP this madness before it's too late!

As much as you may want to taunt these guys, remember they are dangerous animals. Interact with extreme caution much as you would with a pack of mean pit bulls. Never a good idea to try to poke a bear with a stick, or tease a coiled rattlesnake to see if you can avoid the strike.

This all just so freaking sad. I am about to go out of my ever loving mind. I lost my 97 year old mom in December (it was more of a blessing than a tragedy but still difficult) and a couple weeks later my only sibling went home on hospice after fighting lymphoma for 11 + years. I can’t even imagine what Renee’s wife and family are feeling…

LIke me, you are reaching the point in your life where those who have been around us for all of our life are starting to leave at an increasing rate. It seems that our lives are in a constant state of loss and grief, further, we realize that our remaining days grow shorter, and the road ahead is much shorter than the road behind. There are no words I can offer other than to say I understand

The part that keeps wrecking me is how calm she was. Smiling. De-escalating. Trying to get everyone home alive. And somehow that gets twisted into provocation. If “she wasn’t afraid enough” is now a death sentence, that tells us exactly what kind of country some people are trying to normalize.

Remember when it used to be (for the most part) an exaggeration to call the American Right "Nazis"? Those days are past. These people are Nazis. It's an accurate description of the totalitarian form of government they support and embody.

There it is, the obituary for the American experiment:

'We had whistles. They had guns.'

RRJKR's avatar

We have guns too, (about 400 million at last count) and I really think the plan is to push us to the point that we put down the whistles

I agree. I think they want the violence.

The agent in front pauses his walking to get a good video of the event and barricades himself in front of the car just in case pow pow time is going to happen. They've been known to bump into people firmly and knock them down to start something. The typology is uncanny.

What Kristi could have said, if she had any sense of decency:

"Today, in an act of domestic terrorism, an ICE rioter weaponized law enforcement against a the driver of a vehicle. Our officer relied on his indoctrination and took an innocent life, as well as the life of his country.

"Sanguinary MAGA politicians have created an environment that encourages rampant assaults on citizens by law enforcement."

Letter to Senator Tillis (not that it will do any good though):

Senator: Donald Trump has declared war in the United States, the people of this nation, and the people of Minneapolis because his ICE agents killed a woman in cold blood, lied about it and are facing the wrath of the people over the terrorization of their city and the state of Minnesota. He has lost it. He is over any red line you can think of.

Your job is to shut him down and shut him up.

The US Congress is (used to be) a co-equal branch of government, so unless you want the US Congress to continue as a Saturday morning cartoon show - as we see you now, and have under the dictator in the Maralardo White House. STOP HIM. This is not going to get better. He dos not have unlimited power and the people will prove it or die trying, and if you do not get a handle on your job and your oath and duty, it will come to this.

In case you do not know, I publish every letter I send to you because I want to you to be held accountable for your non-action and you feckless understanding of what the job of a US Senator is. But then, I still am not convinced any Republican knows what to do in a crisis except pretend it will go away. I do not think this will unless Trump goes away and the government is restored, and every Republican office holder is removed from their job and replaced with people who know what to do.

It's a tactical ploy to give two commands at once. It confuses the prey just like it would your dog. It's also grounds for dismissal of a case. You can see the first agent point to the side of the road. "You need to move your car outa here."

I'm not mad at you. GET OUT OF THE CAR.

I would say HE escalated things. Must be that two weeks of training

This is quite in keeping with my instinct.

And the “fuckin *****” statement was directed at either her wife or the both of them.

Ross is a weak, pathetic excuse for a human and he was given official license to project his rage, any way he wanted to, on innocent civilians.

That’s not immigration control. That’s paranoia.

Huh, I didn’t realize the governments sites cut the doggie part out. Your theory sounds exactly right.

I wonder if anyone has told Justice Kavanaugh about how this citizen got treated during an ICE 'stop'.

They live in such a bubble he probably has no idea. Or he's too drunk to notice.

oh he knows. He claims he does not know and lives in a bubble, but he knows
