College basketball fans are familiar with the fact that Duke coach Milt Kryzilonski has a very cozy relationship with the referees.

The Rittenhouse/Schroeder dynamic reminds me a lot of that.

I would bet he's gonna sit on the mistrial ruling til he hears the verdict. If it's guilty, he will grant the mistrial, if it's not guilty, the ruling goes into the circular filing cabinet.

That seems like the sort of thing that would be prohibited in a sane legal system, but it’ll probably turn out to be yet another norm where there should be a law.

It seems to me that the mistrial motions should be ruled on based on their own merits.

Saving it for after the verdict is just weird.
