But just think. Any pregnant woman in Hattiesburg will be able to watch volleyball in comfortable seating. Assuming, of course, that she can afford a ticket.
Some of Mississippi is really great. Especially Oxford, where Ole Miss is located. It was students at Ole Miss that forced the university to remove the old state flag from the entire campus (including the medical school in Jackson), and that ultimately was the impetus for the redesign of the state flag.
Dan Jones lost his job as chancellor over this, but he supported it and is still revered by students who were there during that time.
If cutting taxes on the rich and businesses, punishing poor folks (particularly women), and doing away with aid to education and regulations against pollution makes the economy grow, then why isn't Mississippi (and Alabama and Louisiana and Arkansas) the richest part of the USA?
My wife and I found out that my RWNJ brother was actually living in a tent in a wooded area even though he was a not-quite-full-time night manager at a Wendy's. His former flatmate had scarpered on him and he'd lost his apartment and couldn't find another. He had convinced himself that he could get back on his feet with just one more paycheck and lucky break. We finally dragged him to where his father and siblings lived, where his sister was able to get him housing at the Section 8 complex where she lived. The lady who owned the breakfast joint up the road gave him a job where he did well for a few years, until he became outright abusive to a co-worker and got fired. He went to the local Community College to learn cooking and restaurant management on the government dime until he was thrown out of the program for verbally (and possibly racially) abusing a fellow student whom he felt wasn't doing enough of the cleanup after a class. Despite all that, he ended up working as a line cook in one of the top steakhouses in the area. During that time he cooked for and occasionally met most of the cast of Iron Man 3, which was being filmed in the area
I only wish that he'd not taken our emotionally and physically abusive father as something to be avoided rather than a role model.
That part gets in the way of quickly getting to the gays and abortion are bad parts, so they just skip over it.
Mississippi is not a good place in which to be poor.
FIFY.
Also, fuck Brett Favre. And fuck autocorrect for making me retype his name because it thought I meant to type “Fabre.”
Fox News would find one poor family that has too nice a car, and then everyone else would see their benefits cut.
Worse, they’ll find one with a refrigerator because poor people don’t deserve not to have food spoil.

Paul Ryan’s wet dream was to turn all of Medicare/Medicaid into block grants for just that reason.
Until we stop letting pregnant women leave the house because they might go get an abortion or vote.
What to give a wealth ex-NFL star from Missip.... ONE MILLION DOLLARS in WELFARE!
Isn’t volleyball a girlie sport? Perhaps Mississippi is trying to comply with Title IX and simply got confused about which funds to use.
The worst person I know graduated from Southern Miss.

Great idea. Let's do it!
Fuck Republicans and their creatures (like Joe Manchin) who insist that poor people will spend money irresponsibly on things they don't need
It's just insane to me the extent to which the people with the MOST YACHTS are the ones who complain about it the most.
I just cannot.

I'm sure someone already said this down thread, but Mississippi goddamn!
It doesn't have to be a car, they might find a family that has BOTH a nice dining room set and couch.
(Rich people get new furniture and toss the old on the regular.)
Once is not enough.
