"We don't have a candidate or any polices that people want, so we built our entire campaign around attacking the old guy... we are not cranks."

Did nobody consider that Biden might die? I mean, the guy is a million years old, any campaign run by people who are not window licking morons would have a plan in a drawer for the moment the opposing candidate karks it.

Maybe the people who tried to get the convicted felon and foreign agent back as part of the campaign are not the smartest?

Sorry, to clarify, given the surprisingly large number of people in the Trump orbit that are convicted felons and foreign agents, I mean Manafort. They wanted him to run the Convention.

OT: This sack of rancid dog shit has a plan to infiltrate the DNC with MAGAt 'volunteers'.

Right Wing Watch:

Ivan Raiklin, Trump's self-proclaimed "secretary of retribution," is urging far-right activists—"particularly those who don't have a big public profile"—to volunteer for the Democratic National Convention.

One thing to credit Biden with is that he obviously had planned his withdrawal in advance and used this time to help unite major party figures behind Harris. Notice how quickly everyone coalesced around her following his endorsement. He obviously want her election to be part of his legacy, knowing correctly that if she beats Trump it will make Biden's presidency--including his selfless decision to stand down--one of the all time greats.

Remember your grandkids may one day ask "where were you when American defeated its homegrown fascism?" and think of the part you'll want to play.

Out of curiosity, I checked to see what Franklin Graham is saying about Kamala. So far, nothing - just some Bible quotes and promo for his ministry. The last politically related post was two days ago:

"I recently told President Donald J. Trump that his stories would be even better without foul language … it seems like he really took that to heart! He’s also right about this—“Every single moment is a gift from God.”""

But she didn't even mention sharks 'n batteries 'n sunken boats! Seriously, though, nicely done. I think the huge haul of money through ActBlue is quite a sign: ordinary Democrats aren't in "disarray" or despair at all. I think we are all looking forward to defeating for the second time the unfit, unworthy candidate the Republicans are running. Money talks, even if BS struts and wears an over-long red tie.

Lol, had a good moment on facebook. On a re-lect Joe site, someone was being a pissy pants about Kamala, saying they won't vote and some similar bullshit. Someone tried to to argue with pissy pants, I said "not worth engaging with the negativity, we have work to do." Got a great respsonse: "You’re so right! Thank you. I’m going to roll up my sleeves and postcard, canvass and phone bank!!! This is what is different from 2016.

I supported Joe till the end. But I trust his political instincts. Nobody makes him do anything. He hates the PAB as much as we do. He see's the path forward and took it. Go Kamala!

Expand full comment
Brando's avatar

Anyone saying they won't vote should take a few days to process it. I get the bitterness--my mom was livid about Democrats calling on Joe to step down as of yesterday morning (pre-announcement) and I'm sure a lot felt the same way. But Joe made this decision soberly, he was persuaded and not bullied (Joe doesn't react to bullies), and Kamala is certainly going to fight for his legacy and her chance to go beyond it.

Think it through, then remember what we are up against. The best thing for Biden's legacy is Kamala winning, in fact it looks even better than him winning at the top of the ticket because his selflessness will have paid off. This surpasses ANY president's second term.

(Also, historically? Every president's second term has sucked donkey balls)

Something I didn't really think about is how a race between Biden and Felon 34 felt like a repeat of 2020. With an incumbent, it's easy just to think about the race like a tv re-run and get complacent and just grumble since Biden did it before and will probably squeak by again.

With Harris, I think it's kind of waking up people to the stakes in this race again.

Expand full comment
Brando's avatar

There are certainly risks with Kamala, but the potential upside is far greater.

All I hope is she and her team are ready for this and have a solid 90 day plan. Not much time for error here, but a sharp, solid campaign to pull in swing voters can pull this off.

I'm thinking massive blue wave. Just a landslide so wide and deep that they have to come up with a new word for it. The GOP has shown the world it's ass in the form of their very special Emperor King, a walking collection of personality defects so blatant that it takes an entire MSM to distract from his unfitness for office. No red states, not one left because women are not going to stand by and let a bunch of republicans doom them to second class citizenship while Americans of good faith turn out in massive numbers to say "No Trump, no KKK no fascist USA"

Yes. I thought Biden would win a close race as many people finally recognized that it really is important to beat Trump. But Kamala Harris may have a better chance to achieve a convincing win. We need a victory that looks more like a decisive (or at least solid) rejection of the fascist lunatics who want to transform America into something unrecognizable to itself and supremely dangerous to much of the world.

He may try to say he doesn't need to debate her, but that won't be a good look. If he debates Harris, she will be able to counter his lies. He really only has a couple of tricks in his bag: the Gish Gallop or Firehose of Lies, and brazen obnoxiousness (talking over the opponent, "stalking," etc.). I don't see those tactics working with a former prosecutor who has confronted plenty of self-important, lawbreaking jerks in her time. He will come across as a repellent, small-minded, incompetent man who simply believes he's entitled to the job.
