As their whiskers and ears wiggle, I hear the "ding, ding, ding" of a gas station pump. Yeah, I'm that old.

That last one - what a vision of the future of restaurants, when they're all going to seat yourself, run by AI, with food distributed by bottle feeder bolted to the table.

They all reach out and latch onto either the bottle itself or the hand that is holding the bottle.

Them tiny claws! How on earth do the mommy kitties get anything done with those clawed dependents latched on?

I love kittens.

Maybe my old worn out brain

Is partially to blame

But when I hear "Feed the kitty"

I think of poker games.

"Oh hey, the New York Times now has unlimited gift links — what is their angle???"

'Trix, their angle is that these so-called "gifts" require email registration to open. You didn't think the NY Times just suddenly stopped being bullshit, did you? 😎

They sure screwed up a lot of shit here in California. I was almost reminded of the WorldCom scandal.

I just have to say that after REALLY getting into Empress Elisabeth, AKA Sisi, it's pretty clear that she was definitely interesting, definitely dealt with some bullshit, and ALSO was kind of a narcissistic asshole.

hvdv's avatar

Okay this may just have been my elementary school, and I have no idea why, but the 1955 movie about empress Elisabeth ("Sissi," starring Romy Schneider) was a must-see for us 8-10 yr old girls in the late 1970s. We all knew that movie inside out.

DeSantis gave the child abuser the job a month before the charges dropped. Background checks are so passe.

"The congressman also has business problems. Before his election, Mills co-founded an international arms company that court records show made most of its money selling grenades in the Middle East. Trapped under tens of millions of dollars of debt, the company is now in foreclosure proceedings. Mills still maintains a major stake in the firm, despite House committee assignments that pose a direct conflict of interest. Mills sits on the Armed Services and Foreign Affairs committees. He’s also a part of the Intelligence and Special Operations Subcommittee for Armed Services—a position that gives Mills access to classified national security briefings."

What could possibly go wrong?

It's been six weeks since Casa Beb was blessed with six kittens. They've all grown, been weaned and today four of the little have been taken to the Humane Society for adoption. We're keeping two to replenish our house cats, who ha been diminished by old age over the last year. We're not sure what to do with momma cat, who has been spayed and vaccinated but seems a bit wild. We took in a beautiful stray cat but he has is not getting along with the others and will have to be re-homed. He's big, muscular and fixed, likes catching flies. We hate giving him up but the cat fights are too much.

My assessment of Richard Hanania from his Globe opinion pieces to his book tour appearance at the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=177-3sdMpDc) has been validated. Why is it so hard for people to see the obvious signs of a person you'd cross the street to avoid?

Tessie's avatar

Science fact: Do you know why kittens' ears wiggle when they drink their ba-ba?

Because their ears are attached to the muscles in their cheeks and jaws that enable the necessary sucking motion.
