David Brooks would get that shockingly wrong too.

"Well, clearly the problem with the island was the complete rebellion against all of society's structures. When laborers get too much power, they resist doing labor. Lil Buddy rejected his prior position in the hierarchy of the maritime system -- constantly ignoring the Skipper -- and rejected the capitalist system -- by ignoring the Howells, and no longer took on his laborer duties, so of course no boats could be fixed. We see this very breakdown in our society, when we subsidize the poor."

Lindsay had the vapors and McCain wanted to say "bomb France" but even NBC thought better of that.

Thanks to should-be-war-criminal Donald Rumsfeld and his idiot W's "Old Europe" snarks after France (rightly) questioned that whole "we found weapons of mass destruction" assertion, I realize that it's de rigueur to insult the French at every opportunity, but "a failed state?" Really? At this point, I think most elementary school kids have a better handle on world politics than Brooks.

I don't know how Brooks can speak so normally, breathing the thin rarefied air of entitlement as he does. Guess you get used to it.
