CNN's coverage.

"President Joe Biden presided over the annual White House Thanksgiving tradition of the turkey pardon Monday, sparing Liberty, a 42.5-pound turkey, and Bell, 42.1 pounds, in a brief respite from the global crises facing his administration."

The turkeys 🦃 will be returned to the University of Minnesota to live out their natural lives.

I just hope Hawkeyes won’t be preying on the birds when Iowa comes to town to battle the Gophers

I’m thankful they’re not sending them to that farm in Alaska for the photo op of all time

Not the same.

I can't find it, but I remember an Onion infographic that listed compromises W made with the right and the left. A whole long list of "compromises" with Republicans. Under the Democratic column was just "Pardoned Thanksgiving turkey."

No free pardon's under Trump. Those birds had to pony up a cool $2 million apiece.

So what crime did the turkey commit? Those birds know better than to try to stage a coup. But I have seen toms get into street fights, and toms standing on the shoulders of hens.

It's been over 15 years since I've picked up the phone for a number I don't recognize, I have to imagine most other reasonably intelligent Americans with basic common sense operate the same way.

Thus, you have to wonder if the people still picking up any random phone call are *really* that representative of your average reasonable American. I think we mostly self select out of phone polls entirely.

We have a landline. I was bored and did some phone surveys a few years ago. After taking a couple, the calls became more and more frequent. Sometimes two or three per evening. So this means that I was put on some sort of list of people who were willing to take the surveys. Survey results are representative of the people who are willing to take surveys, and probably the same people over and over again.

My husband gets calls from customers all the time, but he does screen them, first.

And I agree. If I do pick up some rando number and it's a poll, I hang up. And I'm sixty.

I think contractors specifically, but small business owners more generally, do much of their business on their cell, and can't afford to not take calls from potential customers.

Yes indeed. But soon as I determine the call is not my business or familiar I hang up.

Obviously I don’t object to Trump being denied a pardon, but I feel sorry for the family that expected to be eating their usual Thanksgiving dinner. “Eeew, my piece has orange bronzer on it!”

Happy forgiveness day!

I'm spending this Thursday with some dear friends who have transitioned from farming turkeys to farming cannabis, so this will be the most joyous holiday in ages. It's pretty depressing to sit down to Thanksgiving dinner when you've just slaughtered 4000 turkeys you hand-fed from chicks.

Free the turkeys! Peace unto all!

When I worked in an ice cream shop, I really lost my taste for it, as I was elbows deep in it all day, and melted ice cream is kind of a bitch to wash out of your ugly brown, orange, pink and white striped shirt that is also nine sizes too large. I can relate.

You know, Biden never ran as being perfect...in fact he went out of his way to squash the stuttering issue early on.

He may not be perfect and he may be old...but the intellect is still there...think about that...

I buy a turkey from a small farm. It isn't legally organic since they don't pay for the inspections but I can say (1) It is damn expensive and a. very tasty if you know how to cook it correctly. Which I do.
