So Gym has to put together a coalition, a skill at which he is incapable:

Here are the elements: The Treason Caucus. That's already a lock. But they are a tiny group.

The mainstream "Coward Caucus."

Running shit-scared of the above. Thought to be a lock but, mmmmmaybe not?

And handful of old-style R-moderates. I am not sure they exist but if so, fine.

The Democrats aren't budging so, despite the deep desire of the Coward Caucus get bailed out, it isn't.

I hope that David Brooks will forgive me for observing that it is not the job of the Democrats to save his pals from themselves.

Also, does he happen to know a hot, young research assistant? I mean, another one.

Jordan is terrible. He’s a meathead and a shit-stirrer. The Dems would help bail out an R speaker I think, if they get to choose the R. There are maybe a half dozen from purple states that we mostly never hear about because they simply lay low and vote R. But there are surely better “moderate” Rs than Gym that Dems would suffer for 1 year. But not him.

They didn't vote "present" because then Jeffries would win. So they voted for McCarthy, Scalise, or somrone else.

Not gonna lie, I thought we'd be to Round 3 or 4 of the Gymbussening by now. I'm kinda disappointed.

But on the other hand, the fact that Gymsocks hasn't called for a Round 2 nearly four hours into the day tells me that poor monster's suffered quite the blow to his ego.

Jim Jordan's strategy seemed to be to force a floor vote to force the holdouts to fall in line. "Surely, the GOP wouldn't want to humiliate themselves on national TV twice!?"

GOP: "jokes on you, assholes, we are totally into that shit!"

Hi Elsie

Don’t think you want to bring up Gyms past on the wrestling mat.

Are conservatives so entrenched in the bullshit mountain filter they genuinely don’t know this? Or is Elsie actually this dumb?

Does anyone feel confident that this ideological extremist would ratify even the most legitimately, massively pro-Biden 2024 election results? Consider how he conducted himself in 2020, and how he continues to behave. This is another moment of peril for the country.

Yes, that's true. I was thinking of how certain House members might scheme to throw out the totals in some key states so that the magic total of 270 isn't reached and the whole affair ends up in the House. All they have to do is make sure nobody gets to 270, and if they have a majority in the House, their candidate will win.

News from the Future: After 37 frustrating votes, Jim Jordan was finally selected as Speaker, subject to an unprecedented agreement that any one member of the House can subject him to immediate expulsion from that body, followed by a rocket trip directly into the sun while being repeatedly and humiliatingly [omitted due to commenting rules]....

News from the Future + 1 day: Gym Jordan has been removed as speaker after reports surfaced that he once walked past AOC without spitting on her. Matt Gaetz filed the motion. The republicans voted 220-1 to remove Jordan.

The media blames the democrats for not supporting Jordan.

Note that under the terms of his selection, if any member, *any* House member, objects to anything he says or does or for no reason whatsoever, he is immediately removed, expelled, and tiny elves stomp on his dick with small triforks. No vote on the removal, expulsion, or the number of small forks.

You might wonder why agreed to these terms but, like Kevin, that big Freudian gavel overrode his common sense. OK, in his case dumb, greedy instincts.
