OT. I saw a TikToker's clip a couple of days ago. He was in line at the grocery store and bumped into someone he knew from a softball league whome he'd not seen in several years.
The dued saw his Harris/Walz cap and was like, I can't believe your'e voting for her. He expressed interste in why and TT guy said because of Jan 6.
Guy said it was nothing, just some nice people walking around in the Capitol building.
TT guy said can I show you some video and he agreed. He showed the violent stuff, cops being attacked, bleeding. At first the guy didn't believe, but he came to accept the reality.. TT guy said he was actually shocked by what he saw.
Thing that struck me is that after four years, almost, there are still people who do not know that a lot of violence occurred that day. They think it was like a on-demand tour of the building, just sightseeing, nothing serious.
I saw it happening live. The alert popped up on my computer screen while I was working on lockdown. I saw cops being pushed, shoved down, overrun by masses of people on the exterior of the building. One cop hit his head pretty hard when he went down brutally and it looked like a potential serious head injury.
And it got worse inside.
It's hard to share space with people who deny or avoid reality to the extent they're unaware.
My brother is one of those who says it was just a peaceful thing, blah blah. I've seen the video a million times but every time it's like a new punch to the face.
Yeah, the local repubs put out a stupid statement:
“The Republican Party of Duval County thanks law enforcement for swiftly apprehending the individual involved. In an environment of high political tension, where President Trump has survived two assassination attempts and Republican supporters are derided as Nazis and called “garbage” by Joe Biden, we urge calm as we approach the end of this election season.”
I am looking forward to President Harris, and am confident that the chaos and violence when she wins will be minimal, in spite of trump's attempts to rile up the rubes. Hopefully, that his fans fail to fight for him will prompt him to flee the country, so that he's Venezuela's problem, or wherever he decides to go, instead of ours.
That is what I am thinking. If he croaks, he will become a martyr, no matter the reason for said croaking. Fleeing the country might just finally convince the magas that he really doesn't give a shit about them. Actually, think that they realize it on a certain level, but have buried deep, so fleeing the country may bring it up to where they can admit it to themselves, if to no one else.
New swing state polling from CNN shows that Trump has no momentum and the elections in Wisconsin and Michigan are still moving toward a Harris victory.

All three states broke in Trump’s favor in 2016, but President Joe Biden won them in 2020.

The Pennsylvania results look a little funky and the reason can be found in the methodology, “Likely voters include all registered voters in the poll weighted for their predicted likelihood of voting in this year’s election.”
They have weighted the poll likely toward Trump supporters. CNN also notes that their results look the same as three months ago, which suggests that they have weighted the results and not updated the polling model to account for the increase in women voting that we have seen in voting so far.
As it should be, really. In that time, I don't really think there are any undecided voters who might actually vote that are worth wasting time and money to try to capture.
I think it's going to weigh more on getting those "sane" people that do support progress to actually show up. This is probably easier with states with mail in ballots, but I'm worried about those states absolutely slammed at the physical offices. Not to mention USPS fuckery. We will have to drown them in numbers
