The vast majority of immigrants, undocumented or otherwise, simply want a better life and to flee violence and poverty. Republicans know this, but they need to call all undocumented immigrants dangerous to frighten and anger their base and exact sweeping policies that attempt to keep America white, which is the real goal. Everyone does agree that the truly dangerous criminal element coming from outside our border should be stopped. But that’s not what today was about.
The fact that Hegseth and Noem, who surely must have had some boozy night together after some MAGA hate rally, are going to lead the National Defense and Homeland Security is just astounding. Reality is far stranger than fiction.
And the vast majority don’t come here eager to start a crime spree to enjoy our jails or deportation. They can commit crime in their own homeland. They can find actual work here. Hell, 44% of all undocumented immigrants work in FL construction and/or landscaping, and half of those people work for Trump at Ma Lardo.
