More useless White men to be sorry representations of their sex and race and fuck up what Trump won't bother with. I. Can't. Even.

Marco, Marco. Just the right height for Big and Little Sir.

Ta, Evan. One good thing about working 9:30 to 5:30 (actually 6:30 today; I helped my supervisor, whom I love, enter her data) is that I missed it all.

Wookiee Monster's avatar

I’m going to put a marker down here and say that Little Marco will be the first cabinet member that Trump will belittle, give a demeaning nickname to, and fire by tweet.

In fact, I think Trump nominated him just so he could do that to him.

I just got into it with my Trumpy Neighbor. She insists that Pete Hegseth can't be a drunk because he's a Christian. I pointed out that his co-workers said he came to work drunk at Fox and reeking of alcohol. She said, "They'd never say that because they like him."

I said, "You can like somebody and still admit he's a drunk."

She could not see this as being a possibility.

From the Associated Press:

"One of Trump’s more controversial picks, Kash Patel for FBI director, made a brief appearance Wednesday at a private Senate GOP lunch at the Capitol.

“I’m thoroughly enjoying the advise and consent process,” Patel said in the halls afterward. “I look forward to meeting with as many senators as possible.”

Patel was being escorted in and out of the closed-door lunch by GOP Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina who said he’s supporting the nominee and expects he’ll have a confirmation hearing soon."

fuck that guy.

Two Real World cast members, a WWE exec, and one of Oprah's TV quacks, in the Cabinet of a former WWE character? If I had been blissfully asleep for the last ten years, then read that in a novel, I would whiz that novel right out the window.

Mapped: U.S. Jobs Supported by Exports to China, by State

https://www.visualcapitalist.com/mapped-u-s-jobs-supported-by-exports-to-china-by-state/

Lots of these jobs could go away once the tariff war starts.

Wookiee Monster's avatar

Fox already has their “it’s Sleepy Joe and Shrill Kamala’s fault” talking points ready.

Brando's avatar

The tariffs will be full of loopholes and waivers to please whatever industries pay their tribute and have pull with the administration. It'll be a corrupt and inefficient system but it won't be a strict tariff regime like the media speculates.

America no longer cares about economic issue.

Economic anxiety has served its purpose, to get Dems out of the White House.

As a country we’ve already moved on to worrying about shit that doesn’t affect us. Like Trans people in sports or which territory we should invade next…

If someone was sincerely concerned about the economy, they would study economics, and they would never ever vote Republican again.

When will people learn the lesson of history that the leopard wants to eat ALL the faces?

For whatever reason, Americans have no historical memories. And I'm not sure how US history or civics is taught anymore, I am old.

OT: I give you a headline that feels like it's from some weird alternate universe but is in fact an early look at the insanity PAB has normalized in out lives

"Cash-strapped MAGA pillow entrepreneur Mike Lindell is now selling MyCross necklaces for $250 a pop"

Does he think he can grift at the same level as PAB?

If the two were combined it might be seen as a tad irreverent.

You can see why rapists get away with so much. No consequences at all. Even those who claim to be rape victims like Joni Ernst will still back a rapist if it keeps her in good with the team.

Some pretty fucked up incentives for the kids.

Land Shark 🇺🇦 🏳️‍⚧️'s avatar

Joni Ernst ... I cannot figure out how a person who was sexually assaulted could even tolerate a sexual assaulter. I can't understand it. (This is not something that has happened to me)

Brando's avatar

1) She is lying about being sexually assaulted or

2) She has decided that her political advancement is worth turning a blind eye, one of many similar decisions Republicans have made in this era.

Rhizolith Reborn's avatar

So is she lying about her sexual assault or is she a psychopath?

So, on January 20 at 2 p.m., the markets have crashed, we no longer have allies, Russher overruns Poland and our military has collapsed, we no longer have a food supply and all news outlets have been shuttered, think anyone in what's left of the "media" will ask republicans why they voted in support of these unhinged buffoons? Yeah, so, nothing changes there.

Blue Willow Woman's avatar

Earn their vote? Like what? Fondle their nether regions or make lewd comments about them or maybe ask them to spank them with a rolled up Time magazine with their face on it? Please. Maybe President Elon will send out checks to eligible voters to "earn" their vote come next election? Is that how it's done?
