I thought the G O Pee guys scored a lot of goals...just not in their net.

And that rascal Raskin! (sp?) what a counter puncher.!

His rebuttal of 'protected speech' was pure common sense: 'If persons communicate for a criminal purpose, that is not First Amendment 'protected speech'.

How silly of the Founders to not specify that...is it supposed to be obvious??

Guess the G O PEE thought they would grill Jack privately in a Star Chamber...then the SOB insists on public testimony. They should have dropped the plan right then.

Jack Smith was exactly the deadly serious, take-shit-from-nobody prosecutor America needed to convict Trump of the attempted coup we all saw play out with our own eyes. He embraced and spouted The Big Lie. He demanded election officials “stop the count!” during election night. He begged and threatened Republican officials to find votes, declare fraud, perform an audit, a recount, an investigation. Some did, and confirmed Biden’s victory. Trump and other Republicans filed 60 lawsuits alleging fraud, either without proof, or with sworn affidavits from “eyewitnesses”who saw “suspicious” activity. Other suits alleged an “algorithm” proved Trump could not have lost. Others blamed global conspiracy, even involving a dead former president of Venezuela. None of the 60 suits had merit. All dismissed, many by Trump-appointed judges.

Trump tried to lean on several state reps to choose “alternate” (fake) electors, loyalists who would attempt to file fraudulent state election results in place of actual state electors. That failed, and several of those loyalists were prosecuted, a few convicted.

Trump desperately urged, pleaded and begged someone, anyone to come to his aid and “stop the steal.” $250 million dollars were conned from his base, and most of that money went into Trump slush funds, not legal fees. Some people gave their life savings, convinced they were saving America from a fraudulent election, a coup by democrats. Others filed lawsuits or grievances and begged back their donation.

Trump finally urged his base to come to DC on J6, 2021 and physically do something. He pressured Mike Pence and other Republicans to suspend the counting of electoral votes. Failing that, he gave a speech just an hour or so before the mob stormed the Capitol. He urged them to “fight like hell.” He told them he would march with them. Then he sat on his hands and sipped Diet Coke while Congress was under siege. People died, people were injured and now have ptsd. Hundreds were arrested, tried and convicted.

Jack Smith needed more time and a faster system to prevent the tragedy that we are currently living through. Trump should have gone to jail. We should have all been free of this.

What are the explanations for human denial, especially denial of the obvious? I mean, I'll look at three or four different weather reports, yeah? And I'll pick the one that -- in that moment -- best suits my preference. If that's how the day turns out, fine. If not, fuck it, who cares. But that's pretty much where that sort of behavior ends. Pretty, pretty much... yeah?

Ugh. Shouty Gym Jordan. I can’t listen to his voice. I’ll catch the clips of Smith later.

It’s all performative. It’s political theater. That’s why Jordan is the one they roll out for these shout-fests. And Jim Comer is the fool they keep busy making baseless accusations against democrats. He whined and wailed almost daily about the smoking gun evidence of Joe Biden’s corruption. He wasn’t ever able to share it, not just yet, but soon. It’s coming soon. All political theater. And it’s all propaganda, misinformation, deceit. What we are seeing play out with Republicans is the slow erosion and decay of our democracy. Either a total authoritarian collapse will occur, or an economic collapse due to the hopeless national debt. Republicans are pushing us closer to both.

Anyways, I had a really nice raspberry/blackberry sour beer (it was like a smoothee with fizz and some alcohol) during this so I'm not too pissed off at half of the House committee.
