MAGA dingbats and poisoned kool-aid servers have the answer they want already. How did this happen? Open borders and illegal immigrants illegally voting, combined with rigged electronic voting machines buggering the vote counts in favour of dems and atheists and other people who are Not Real Americans. So far I've only noticed Wayne Allyn Root trumpeting this theme loudly, but once the rest of the rabid right wing gets over the shock of losing so big, it will be right on his bandwagon, hiding from reality and moaning, God is not mocked and you will all answer to our big guy in the sky for mocking US."

The MSM press

are all a bunch of pricks.

They love to stir up drama

to drive their website clicks.

'Dems in Disarray'

is all they seem to know.

But 'Hunter Biden's laptop'

is their other feature show.

The MSM press

love to gin up doubt,

ridiculous polling numbers

they especially love to tout.

But calling out the Rethugs

on their numerous radical actions

the MSM press can't seem to do -

it might offend their donor factions.

I'm sure there is some overlapping involved. When Ghoolie was going down the mob attorneys were talking to Cohen stating how their clients like the orange moron but hate Ghoolie. That tells me they are cut from the same cloth.

The Special Elections Tell Us Nothing About 2024

Democrats have a Biden problem, not a party problem.

By Jonathan Chait

(This is a real headline and sub head from New York Magazine)

"M"'s avatar

Oh nooo

Did he really write that?

I think that's code for

"I Don't Want Even The Chance of a POTUS Woman of Color, Especially Not That One"

Though he would say that about ANY one

IIRC he literally wrote a piece when HRC was running entitled

"There Should Be a Woman POTUS Some Day, Just Not That One"

The trick, of course, is that they will say that about any one

The G-7 Experience's avatar

Why Dems winning is bad news for Biden!

You Should Ice That Burn's avatar

So yesterday's election successes for democrats tell us nothing about the next election, and Biden beating Trump last time also tells us nothing about 2024, and the "red wave" midterms that failed to materialize also are outliers, so tell us, what problem is Biden causing for democrats again Chait? Too much unexpected winning?

Rhand Holm's avatar

Jonathan Chait tells us nothing about 2024. New York Magazine has a Chait problem.

Thanks for the turd in the punchbowl, Jon. No seriously, it tells us that we have us a Biden problem, and we should take that seriously. But running against unfreedom and authoritarianism is a brand winner for Democrats.

WAIT A MINUTE.

A chemical plant exploded? In TEXAS? When have there ever been safety issues at chemical plants in Texas of all places? Texas is one of the most business friendly states in the country, where they don't specify any burdensome regulations and let local plant operators -- who know their own conditions and risks -- find the most economically effective way to ensure safety.

I'm telling you this has to be a false flag, some democrat chemical plant from California flown in just to blow up in Texas and make Greg Abbot look bad.

Anyway, here's the link:

https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2017/08/30/547428167/chemicals-at-flooded-texas-plant-in-danger-of-exploding

Whoops, sorry, not that one. This is the one about the explosion:

https://www.npr.org/2017/08/31/547553447/fire-reported-at-chemical-plant-in-crosby-texas

Hang on, not that explosion:

https://www.npr.org/2023/05/05/1174455349/texas-petrochemical-plant-fire-shell

Well, okay, that's more of a rapid combustion fire, but not quite an explosion. I think I got it. Yeah, here:

https://www.npr.org/2019/11/27/783263942/massive-explosion-rips-through-texas-chemical-plant

Oh, for the ever-loving ... Not that chemical plant explosion. THIS chemical plant explosion:

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/texas-chemical-plant-explosion-sparks-large-fire-evacuation-shelter-pl-rcna124206

Right then. I think we've established that Texas' chemical manufacturing regulations are second to none and this is an extreme aberration. There is no danger to the public, but out of an abundance of caution we're advising that people within 100 miles of Shepherd, Texas shelter in place. Emergency workers with hazmat suits will be available to bring clean water to your location. Please do not venture outside for any reason.

Kingeider's avatar

"These are some of the same chemicals you have under your kitchen sink". Yeah, I've got WD40, chlorine bleach and cleanser under mine, but I'm not in a big hurry to burn them and breathe the results.

Satanic Pancake's avatar

Texas chemical plants are so safe that they can be built next to elementary schools and in residential neighborhoods. Oops, just kidding, there are no regulations in Texas, so there is no distinction between residential and commercial. But still, they are the kindest, gentlest, safest chemical plants in the free world, even if they are constructed out of Bubble Yum, baling wire, and true grit.

OT: MSNBC chyron: talks underway for possible cease-fire, between Israel and Hamas.

1st light's avatar

Cease-fire seems unreasonable, maybe a pause.

swmnguy's avatar

I sure hope that's true, and takes place.

Yes, there will be problems. There are problems now. But problems when there isn't wholesale violence and killing are better than problems when there is wholesale violence and killing. We can talk and argue and point fingers for the rest of our lives, if we aren't killing and being killed.

Being opposed to violence and killing is indeed an absolutist position. I recognize that. It's also binary. Once can either be opposed to violence and killing, or in favor of it. There's no middle ground. When someone says, "I oppose violence and killing, but..." that means they support violence and killing.

I realize also I am in the very small minority in my opposition to violence and killing. So I'll leave it at that and hope for the best.

1st light's avatar

Nice attitude. How would you have eliminated slavery, without violence and killing?

swmnguy's avatar

You seem intellectually honest. That's an extremely vague question. To give you an honest answer, we'd have to stipulate an awful lot of things.

It's particularly interesting to me, since my ancestors were all Abolitionists. We were prosecuted in the early 1680s for protesting against the Quakers, in the Philadelphia area, because the Quakers grew rich by dominating the slave trade there. My family was constantly persecuted by the colonial and US Federal government until 1863.

That's right; during the violence and killing of the US Civil War; the USA thought it worthwhile to use cavalry to interdict my ancestor's efforts on the Underground Railroad. One might think that cavalry would have been better used against the Confederacy; but then one might not be Abraham Lincoln, so I really can't speculate.

What nation are we talking about? What time period? What power do I have, and not have?

I'd say, I'd have eliminated it before it started, had I been King of England in 1600. By decree.

Or, as my ancestors did in real life, I'd have non-violently sacrificed my freedom, over and over and over, in opposition to the people who supported violence and killing, and didn't oppose slavery until it became convenient for them and conducive to their own interests.

And, were I ever in a situation where violence and killing were thrust upon me; I'd still be opposed to it.

Aren't you?

1st light's avatar

"I'd say, I'd have eliminated it before it started, had I been King of England in 1600. By decree."

I'm not looking for fantasies here. And no, considering all the women and children that are abused physically - I'd hit back as hard as I could.

Not going to happen. Hamas wants war and Israel is happy to oblige. From NYT:
