Trump saying he doesn’t want a book deal is the same as him saying he doesn’t want people to give him money. That’s possibly the biggest lie he could ever tell.
Trump is no longer in office, despite his insisting otherwise. But the use of book deals to funnel money to politicians is still the same model. And, we know both the RNC and the MAGAts would buy/bulk buy a new Trump book, so profit wouldn’t be an issue for a publishing house. So, why is he being blacklisted by them?
Say what you want about Mike Pence - I, for one, certainly do so frequently - but unlike that other guy, I'm pretty sure he's literate and can write a complete sentence.
That said, I am prepared to go to the stake rather than read anything Pence writes.
Worried about defamation lawsuits, I would imagine. Defaming people in Twitter comments is one thing, but printing libelous assertions in a mass-market published book is a whole different thing. It's why publishers have legal teams in the first place.
