This will only really make sense to Bay Aryans, but SF south to SSF is about 240 km2 (about 2/3 of Gaza), with a pop of about 1M (vs Gaza's 1.8M). So the population density of the tip of the Peninsula is about 4170 per km2; and of Gaza, about 5000 /km2. (the density of the C and C itself is ca. 840K/120km2 = 7000 per km2, so a little denser than Gaza, but that's just the damn city).

I use this analogy in my head when reading about airstrikes and tank maneuvers.

BTW, Hamas includes a bunch of over-the-edge wackjobs, and I understand Israel not wanting to negotiate too much with an organization that denies its right to exist, but jeez, the idea that you can conduct "surgical" military operations in what amounts to an extended city is fucking ridiculous.

I'm sorry. There is a "TV Guide Channel"?

Note: I actually do not have cable or dish or broadcast teevee, so this is a real question.

See above. Three times the size of San Francisco, with about twice as many people.

First of all, Joan Rivers is a comedy legend and pioneer who works harder at 132 years old (or whatever it is) than most 30 year olds. Those of you going "Who?" and "She's not funny!" are just wrong. Second of all, as with any comedy legend, ask them about things not having to do with comedy, and you get ignorant-ass statements like this. Go design a new bangle for QVC, Joan, and leave the political statements to the experts, like Michele Bachmann and Louie Gohmert.

If you don't get thrown out of showbiz and live long enough, you become a wise old celeb. Yes, someday even Kanye fucking West will be considered "old" and possibly even "wise".

Pfft. This is the problem with the anti-Israel lobby: you guys just always want to nitpick the details.

The only puzzle is, if this is true, then how come an Israeli missile hasn't taken out Joan Rivers yet?

Nah, they just firebombed Tokyo and burned it to the ground, which was much more humane.

Put it another way - the U.S. had Purple Heart medals manufactured for the number of projected casualties from a full assault on the Japanese Home Islands.

We have not had to manufacture any since.

...the success rate of the Iron Dome system can be debated. However what can't be debated is the fact that Hamas rockets have caused next no damage in Israel, however Gaza resembles some post apocalyptic hell scape!
