But not all far-right neo-Nazis were happy to fight for Putin. In fact some despise Putin, mainly because of immigration policies in Russia. This much smaller group formed a militia to fight the neo-Nazis fighting for Putin, and it became known as the Azov Battallion.
So to sum it up, there are neo-Nazis in Ukraine. Most of them are fighting FOR Putin in the Donbas, and the rest (a much smaller groups) think they are fighting for Ukraine and white folks, but they are not the mainstream in Ukraine, and their presence is largely the result of Putin meddling in Ukraine in a similiar way Putin has been meddling in the US, fanning the flames of division and supporting far right insanity.
I did not realize that epic snark was a national pastime in Ukraine. Remind me to never EVER get on the bad side of a Ukrainian, especially a Ukrainian woman.
