An okapi? Careful now! I hear you can be nibbled to death by them.

How do I volunteer for that? ❤️

Okapi! Baby! Love the socks. The gods must have been drunk that day, tossed some DNA in the primal pool and said, "What the heck. Let's see what happens." And declared it good.

Okay, but do you do your OWN research?

When the DC area is not disgustingly, hot and humid, I’m going back to the zoo. I lived across the street from the zoo for eight years in the 70s and 80s. Now that I live in Maryland, I don’t go often. I was there two years ago at the zoo security office to renew my Smithsonian badge. I did see and video Hank and Lola the binturongs. Lola bit a veterinarian this year - I don’t blame her. I’ve thought about biting my doctors.

ElderlyLoudCatWomyn's avatar

I wish I could bite my docs when they don't listen

My sister drug me all over that zoo because she wanted to see a moose. I was bursting pregnant and it was in late July.

Andrea's avatar

It is up and down hills so difficult in good weather without being pregnant!

Bobathonic's avatar

Did she see a majestic møøse?

TootsStansbury 🇺🇦's avatar

Nope. No moose at our zoo; if any city deserves a moose and squirrel exhibit, it is our once fair DC.

The Wanderer's avatar

Mind you, møøse bites kan be pretti nasti . . .

Brian Beutler is right (though i am too old and wine soaked to remember who he is). El-Sayed is going to be a really strong contender. Francesca Hong is...not. he's a natural politician, she's...not. and that matters.

WI (and america) doesn't deserve what could happen if that election denying PoS gets to be governor of a swing state.

Late to the party, but I gotta say that I don't exactly buy the bit about mold in the heads aboard ships. Swabbies are meticulous about cleanliness. It's pounded into them because the last thing you want is toxic mold on a ship fucking with readiness. Can't be a good warfighter from sick bay.

Substandard rations, that I believe.

A car company like GM pr Ford can make hundreds, even thousands of cars a day because they set up their factories and supply chains to do that. US munitions company never had to produce tens of missles a day, let alone the hundreds needed, They have neither the factory space supply chains to greatly increase production ,

My first job was at the Fashion Island Express in the 90’s. We had daily sales competitions. One day, there were two competitions:

Life in my men: biggest single sale to a man

Men in my life: most sales to men that day

It was part of the VS Wexner supergroup of companies that told us what to wear when we were impressionable teens.

Daniel O'Riordan's avatar

I am such a naive idiot. I always thought the reason Les Wexner never had a companion with him at social events was because he was gay and in the closet for business reasons, not that he couldn't get his dates into the events if they carded.

All the problems this country has now and the Congress in going after Dr. Fauci for pleading the 5th to try to stay out of jail because Rand Paul hates him. With the people we have governing us, we are all doomed to hard labor for little benefit!

Ta, Rebecca. We're looking forward to seeing ziggywiggy, you and yours, and fellow Wonketteers in Cleveland. Ta, Martini. One of these days we have to visit the San Diego Zoo. We have had our flowery green tea and dear Meccalopolis made luscious fruit bowls; I'm making the elitist avocado toast and he's making coffee. Good day, beloved Wonketteers. We love and appreciate you all and we bless us all with love, health, peace, and grace.

Please, please stay safe. Wear a mask or two, wash your hands, sanitize when you cannot wash and let the sanitizer dry completely, stop touching your face, take Vitamin D, get a booster shot six months after your last and catch up on any other vaccines you need (and if there are children in your life, make sure they're vaccinated also, too), avoid indoor and crowded outdoor gatherings and when you must meet, remove masks only to eat, drink, and take quick photos, and stay the fuck away from us and anyone with whom you do not share a roof. Do this because you love yourself, and because we love you, too. Do this in memory of 27 Club member Treg and heroic Tony, Holly's pilot friend, among nearly eight million dead worldwide. Do this to honor the nurses and other frontline medical personnel (we adore you, all medicos of Wonkette, active and retired), especially ICU Hera Mrs Land Shark, RN. Stay safe. Jump through any voter registration hoops now, and help others to do the same if it's within your power. When we vote, we win!

My last Republican was Jack Quinn (Sr), in 1993. He was a "home town boy," likeable, and I thought, a good choice for congresscritter. Then, he went to DC, and joined the EVERYBODY WORSHIP THE FLAG Club, wanting to sacra mentalize the old Stars and Stripes. I wrote to him (actual pen and paper back then) voicing my concerns about telling me what I could do with what belonged to me,

making the flag worthy of veneration and punishing those who did not fall down in front of it, as an idol. He wrote back, and in polite terms, said I was unAmerican. I replied that if his group was successful, he could watch me burn MY flag, in a safe container, on MY driveway. He did not respond. I have never trusted any Republican, since. And that most certainly would include Thune.

Daniel O'Riordan's avatar

It's obvious Chuck Edwards big mistake was going after women in his office. If he'd just done the creepy Republican being inappropriate to women thing to other family members, it would have just been a family matter, and he would have been good as gold with the voters.

I've never watched South Park (blasphemy, I know, LOL), but I will go and find that episode since you recommend it.

Bookmarked the Wyden report for later reading (I bet I won't get through the whole thing, but I'll glean what I can).

It occurs to me: did Capital One back up from the TrumpKidBucks thing (or at least make that public) because they knew this report was coming out and wanted to be on the right side of history? Could be!

Old Man Yells at Cloud's avatar

Unlikely they care much about what side of history they are on but they do care about which side of the jury's decision they are on.
