I completely respect you for fighting the good fight. It is the only way places get better. Same struggle here in Indiana.

Well, some of the locals fit the backwards part, and a winter that goes October to May covers the other. Some of us (mostly from away, I might add) are trying our best to change the first part. It is beautiful here, with an enormous sky and sweeping vistas, and for me it's proven very hard to leave.

"May he spend a relaxing few weeks with Carl Hiaason's Skink as his nature guide."

YEEEESSSSS!!!! PLEASE!!! THIS!!!

I'd always thought that Hiaasen wrote Skink as an homage to Florida's last real Governor, Lawton Chiles. I know I'd have voted for Governor Clinton Tyree!

Just came across the first Skink book.GROSSHILARIOUSHiaasen has toned it down a bit since, and it IS over the top, but I was deeply impressed with his methods of dealing with asshats and retribution and general comeuppances. The dog is genius........

There used to be an outdoor concert venue not far from our house. Despite the proximity, we were only able to hear one concert on a summer evening, and that was John Mellencamp. He used nothing but Bose speakers.

They own a house in Boothbay.. but I bet the put it in her name (like they did for the house they owned in Waterville before he was elected.)

He's says he's done with politics because there's a snow ball's chance in hell of him getting elected to the House or the Senate because we have ranked choice voting for federal offices. No more help from Eliot Cutler to squeak by with just 38% of the vote.

Will be interesting tonight to see if Moody closes the gap on Mills tonight. That race was strangely emotionless- Poliquin and Golden clearly loathe each other, but Mills and Moody seemed to run atypically calm campaigns and at last check Mills was +4 or so on him. We'll see...
