Seems like C_R_Eature missed a Top Science Discovery in his roundup of the week's science news: Maine Gov. Paul LePage, who has had just about enough of this "clean energy" nonsense, accused the University of Maine of using vile subterfuge and "a little electric motor" to fool decent god-fearing folk into thinking that electricity can be generated by wind power. He then reportedly lunged at press photographers, screaming at them to stop stealing pieces of his soul.
Silly Governor. Wind doesn’t blow, itt sucks, much like you. Wind power’s time has come. Like all you wingtards are fond of saying, deal with it.
In my state we have a great governor and a legislature courtesy of Barnum and Bailey. Seriously, we recently beat Illinois and Louisiana in the Feckless Corruption Sweepstakes, after years of concerted effort.
What is this "extra" money whereof you speak? Funding for technology research is not a zero-sum game.
As for safer nuclear energy ... that's the kind that doesn't leave any toxic spent fuel once it needs to be decommissioned after a whopping 15 years of active service, right?
Great idea, and I look forward to its development. Meanwhile, my city's water supply is in a reservoir right near a nuclear power plant that was built on a fault line. I'm not inclined to wait til "safe" nuclear plant design comes online.
You cannot libel that movie. That awful, awful movie.
Hello Kitty!
I wonder what kind of electricity generation would have provided the power, before the university's wind project.
Because standard Steam Turbines or Combustion Turbines generate zero pollution.
Oh wait, no... zero pollution would be ... Wind Turbines.
Looking only at the price tag on the turbine leaves a lot of other ...costs, for lack of a better word -- out of the picture.
Is pollution free, just because LePage can't see it?
Mainer here...you know what really sucks? Maine doesn't have an active fault line on which to build a nuke. More's the pity.
Oh, and atomic energy is safe? Well, the giant lobsters in Montsweag Bay agree.

Move out and go where?

It's all done with mirrors?
But of course the gubernor is correct in the sense that, when current is supplied to the generator, it can act as a motor. Maybe.
"If this government were any good, I wouldn't be in it—wait a minute, let me rephrase that..."

So, it's literally a squirrel-cage motor?
That C&W singer everybody was beating up on last week?
In many cases, yes. Particularly the ones involving funny hats.
Haha, you're assuming people with degrees in mass communications have any idea how generators, motors or weather really work.
Mainer here....61% did not vote for Fuckstick LePage. Cutler should have demanded a recount.
