Ta, Robyn. We need a lot more progressives in Congress. I read YEARS ago that if the minimum wage had kept pace with the cost of living, it would be $22/hour. It's approximately one third of that. In NYC, it's $15. The ability to keep a roof over one's head and pay for basic needs is BASIC.
I don't believe that Trump writes any of the non-insane posts on his Truth Social account. Take this, for example:
“Many Communists running in badly failing Blue States,” he wrote in one post. “The votes seem to have them doing quite well against each other. The bad news is that history has conclusively shown that the downtrodden States that they will soon be running will ONLY GET WORSE. MAGA!.” He then followed that up with “America the Beautiful will NEVER be a Communist Country!!!”
I don't believe Trump wrote any of that. I assume that Stephen Miller did, or it may have been one of Miller's underlings. It's not just the fancy words 'conclusively' and 'downtrodden' that make me think Trump didn't write it, it's that there is logic to the post, and complicated syntax. Trump doesn't use logic, he rants, calls people names, gets his MAGA people riled up. He doesn't use phrases like 'downtrodden states that they will soon be running' as subjects of predicate clauses. I don't buy it.
I believe it's Natalie Harp, that blonde bimbo who follows The Dotard around with a portable printer and prints out screenshots from the web that she thinks he'll like.
If a folding chair had run against Espaillat, it would have done well in the primary, since it would likely be seen in the district more often and have fewer racist and misogynistic campaign workers. Now we just have to hope he doesn't pull a Cuomo. Chevalier may turn out to be an inexperienced disaster, but enough people were tired of the status quo to want to take that chance.
I think the authenticity and bold action take is the most important thing. It’s not fealty to any one particular subset of ideology. Voters are pissed and they want solutions. They don’t want politicians who sound like they’re reading from a watered down unflavored pablum of nothing.
If you don’t like “socialism” propose market based solutions but be bold about it and make actual solutions.
"I have been saying for years that the smartest damn thing Democrats could do would be to oppose at-will employment in favor of just cause firings. I mean, Big Antacid might not like it, but imagine the peace people would have if they knew they didn’t have to worry about losing their job for no reason or a very bad reason?"
I couldn't agree more! That would be SUCH a relief!
"Look at that bitch - eating peanut butter right in your face!"
Years ago a coworker said "Oh, you eat vegetables, are you a vegetarian?" Then again, this guy was engaging in 'semi-pro' wrestling, or as an earlier noncomment phrased it "the manpanty violent cuddling game". I referred to it as rolling around on the floor with big sweaty men, which he didn't seem to appreciate.
Women weren't allowed in sporting events in Ancient Greece. Gee, I wonder why not????? I have no doubt that a significant percentage of the male audience was breathing heavily.
My 7th grade social studies teacher said 'layoss'. Drove me nuts. Eyerack, eyeran, there's another I can't think of at the moment...but all meant to demean and disrespect.
I've always admired Dan Goldman and was surprised to see he lost. Can someone give me the executive summary of what happened? I'm not from around here.
I liked him too. It was his association with AIPAC that did him in. When Mamdani was running, Dan refused to endorse him. He also refused to call what Israel is doing in Gaza genocide. Some Americans are sick to death of Israel's enormous footprint on our politics. Sometimes it feels like we work for them. Especially now. AIPAC fluffers should pay attention.
It’s not like this came entirely out of the blue either. People have been begging the Democratic Party to take more decisive action or even ENDORSE the idea that there might be some constraints on Israel’s ability to murder without consequence. It’s more the fact that he like so many others have been utterly dismissive with the idea this might be a real concern
Some of Mamdani's endorsed people are seriously problematic, like Adam Hamawy who won a couple weeks ago and was in the "Blind Sheik" terrorist's thrall for several years but will not state he actually rejects him even now. Vague responses to questions about it. Chevalier, who won last night, has a more recent history of outrageous, genuinely antisemitic and crazy statements, has condemned interracial marriage (with non-POC), went to a pro-Palestine rally so awful even AOC called it horrible. She seems like an attention-demanding juvenile and reminds me of Kristen Sinema. These people are going to provide great material for GOP candidates to hold up as a reason to not vote for Democrats. Some of them claim (like Hamawy) they won despite AIPAC backing their opponents which DID NOT HAPPEN, reason being AIPAC letting more liberal candidates hang themselves. We're getting set up for a backlash.
Yeah, I don't get why we can't support the great things without MAGA-Left whackos taking the offices. Some of this stuff is going to be very much regretted :-(
Would you rather have 100 Mini Mamdanis, 1,000 Micro Mamdanis, or one Mega Mamdani

libs aren't satisfied with rubbing things "in your face". they're also fond of shoving them "down your throat".

I'm told he orders dishes containing canned clams,
How is Steve "Three Shirts " Bannon still a thing? He let a disabled veteran take the rap for the "Build the Wall" scam after he was pardoned.

Southern Red States compete with each other on being lowest ranked in any quality of life measure.
"These people are smart and they’re vicious and they’re focused and they understand the way to take America down is internally."
Uh Steve? Boobie? not the quiet parts out loud again...

Is calling Israel's horrible behavior GENOCIDE a litmus test, now?
Hunter Biden with the better take than most centrists wailing and gnashing of teeth

many likes
Wow..Seems like most of the candidates endorsed by Mamdani were winners. Hmm. Maybe "communism" of this type will catch on.
Can we please agree on ONE thing going forward???
*joke, but for real, it would be GREAT:
Always preface "Steve Bannon" with what is true and likely some of his problem,
"FAILED SCREENWRITER"

In Ancient Greece they wrestled naked. Imagine if they did that today, what the fundagelicals would have to say about it.
They would first check to see what Trump thought about it, being scared shitless of disagreeing with him.
*mouth breathing noises*
*pearls clinking*

Wasn't there olive oil involved as well?
Lots of beautiful, shiny, moist olive oil.
𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗠𝗣 𝗢𝗡 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗦:
Xi Jingpin - kinda mad at him, used to be cool with him
Cuba - he hates them no matter who is in charge
Vietnam, Laos - haven't heard one way or the other
North Korea - Sorta communist, used to be BFF with Kim Jong Un
All the other communist countries - they decided not to be communist anymore.
But he has heard of Thighland. Probably pronounces Laos “lay-oss” like KAOS from Get Smart.
My 7th grade social studies teacher said 'layoss'. Drove me nuts. Eyerack, eyeran, there's another I can't think of at the moment...but all meant to demean and disrespect.
One more reason we are not respected.
Fun fact, the S is silent.

Yeah I forgot that part about Goldberg. Sad 😔
Also Brad Lander seems like a great upgrade and that’s what should happen in a representative democracy.
I'm honestly glad to see people are passionate about it.
I'd argue we're ALL over "PAC" dark money, but Isreal and Trump really shit the bed and BiBi cant stop killing. I'll glad to see people saying "NOPE"
Thanks, that makes sense. I hate that people are assumed to be anti semitic when they object to Israel's genocide.
