My older sister had measles in the 50s. It was awful. She spent 2 weeks in a dark bedroom with fever, etc. We were quarantined. As soon as the vaxx was available, we were marched to the doctors to get the shot. These people are idiots.
I know that vaccines work with very few side effects. RFK jr doesn't like them and is doing everything in his power to make them less safe just to prove his point. Seeking validation or justification for your inappropriate actions is a common trait among long term substance abusers.

I had measles, chicken pox, mumps, and scarlet fever as a child, before those vaccines were developed. I wouldn’t wish any of them on anyone! Why anyone would take a chance on their children catching a preventable, potentially deadly disease I just cannot imagine.
I had all of those except mumps. I developed hearing loss from the fever, and made it worse by turning the volume up to 11 so I could hear it.
I had a blood draw last week, including a measles antibody titer test. Since it's going around, I wanted to find out if I might need to be vaccinated for it.
“Why take an unnecessary risk?” D’oh! That is the reason to get the vaccine, not to avoid it. My parents knew this, thank goodness. Why have we as a society forgotten what we used to know?
Ta, Robyn. I got measles that led to Reye's syndrome (the child killer of the sixties), followed by chickenpox (which I didn't even remember; just remembered Younger Sister's rash), and during the following year mumps and rubella.
Measles/Reye's syndrome nearly killed me. I'm too old to have gotten MMR as a child. Anyhow, since I didn't remember chickenpox, and never wanted shingles, I had my PCP check my titers. Any number over 649 is immune. My number was 1,111. Shingrix is probably the only vaccine I'll never ever need. Dear husband Meccalopolis got his two shots.
Just got the MMR vaccine because my antibody test showed no mumps antibodies. But my normal medical help arrives after I chant, Calling Dr Bombay, calling Dr Bombay!”
See, this attitude: "He came to believe that his patients weren’t suffering from diseases so much as experiencing symptoms of bad diets and societal rot, and that the human body was almost always capable of healing itself with hydration, movement, nutritious foods and spiritual peace."
There is a tiny grain of sand of truth in there, but it needs to be modified to be something more like this: "Some patients are not only suffering from diseases, but also experiencing symptoms from bad diet and societal rot. The human body does have a pretty good chance of healing itself, but it's not a guarantee, and even if you do survive the fire you'll end up with burn scars. So why risk it? In addition to hydration, movement, nutritious food, and spiritual peace, you should take basic precautions that we know work - sunscreen, checking your blood levels annually, or a fucking measles vaccine. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." (or 0.5 ml in the case of the vaccines.)
All good conspiracy theories start with a grain of truth that gets inflated to the size of a boulder.
Yes, a good diet can improve health, but it doesn’t provide the immunity to diseases that vaccines do. And too much of even a good thing can be damage, as shown by all the kids who were hospitalized for liver damage because they got too much vitamin A from cod liver oil.

Believing measles is a mild illness because of "The Brady Bunch" is like believing Donald Trump is a financial genius because of "The Apprentice."
Please describe his symptoms again. I was really enjoying it, but I thought the original poster was skimpy in the details.
She worked to safeguard the children in other ways
No. No she didn't. The parents still went out and about. This was not working to safeguard the children at all.
Jesus fuck
But Polio seemed pretty cool on "Call the Midwife"
I never watched "Full House". But I watched "House", so I know it's never lupus.

I had all but scarlet fever. is rheumatic fever with double pneumonia a fair substitute?
Sacrificing their children to their ideology.

That sounds like a good idea.

They didn’t live through it, and they’ve been sold a pack of lies from ex-hippie essential oil types.

I hope this dumbass family has 10s of thousands of dollars in medical debt over this.
It would serve them right.
Sitcoms are great sources of medical information. Why, on Gilligan’s Island, I learned that radiation poisoning can be cured by eating soap.
I'm not getting the Dr Glass reference. Please 'splain.
Jan Brady’s imaginary boyfriend.

Our assumption of her inflection and such is off-base.
"My children won't see this disease in their lifetimes" actually means "I expect my kids to die before they know it was measles."
