A proposition: After the Democrats retake Congress, the remaining two years of Trumpism shall be called Operation Enduring Asshole.

As Bobathonic notes, they had Louse Lucas in their sights too. What, oh what, could possibly tie these "investigations"--except that they did not *have* any evidence, they were, at least in Omar's case, just creeping around looking for some--together?

I don't know, could it be...Black female elected representatives? Women with brown skin who have the utter temerity to say that our Lord King Emperor has, in fact, no clothes? That Donald Trump is a flabby, dementing skin bag without the slightest clue OR CARE how to make America Great, or even just livable?

Let's just go back to Black women. Who dared to open their mouths. In the time of Our King Trump. Who hopes that will show them, when it surely won't.

I have been maintaining, the real "point" is to convince the MAGA ecosystem that the "investigation" will prove that Omar married her biological sibling, rather than get the exact same benefits by acknowledging that they were siblings. And apparently now Drumpf is staging a freakout about her sometimes but not always using the last name of the man she was married to at the time.

Protestors are getting punched at Trump rallies while Trump cheers it on. Republican mayors are charging at residents and threatening g them.

But all that pales in comparison to El-Sayed murdering Tommy. Spoiler, he got better.

I understand that Elon Musk lied on his application. Where's the investigation?

Totalitarians are so goofy.

One week they are threatening to denaturalize you

Then the next week they are preventing anyone from leaving.

What silly nutballs . . .

Attacking Omar is only a test case. When the lose the election (or even before) they are going to do the same to a whole slew of candidates. Doesn't matter if there is any legal reason behind it. The disruption of their lives is enough to neutralize them.

I read at least one article stating that Rep. Omar was thoroughly "vetted" during the first trump administration and that they found nothing at that time. This is another act of cruelty. And if they can get away with this with a US House Rep, they can get away with it on every day people who became citizens through their parents.

This smacks of the "purity" standards of the Nazis.

Fifth Dentist's avatar

I saw someone saying that the idea is to get people used to these things. If they can get people used to it happening to elected officials, then it will be a total non-event when it happens to "regular" folks.

See you all at New Dachau.

How Medieval.

Specifically the kind of Medieval type of Inquisition used against a certain visionary woman-soldier in France in the 1420s.

She embarrassed a bunch of military and aristocratic men and they conspired to eliminate her. It is said she never let go of her men's pants simply to keep from being raped while in custody.

To date I have never heard even the slightest rumor that Ilhan Omar has ever claimed to be following the commands of an invisible angel who gives her her marching orders

That kind of thing is what her accusers indulge in.

I am horrified, because this is Nazi Germany Night of the Long Knives stuff, shooting the former Social Democrat WW1 General in his garden in the middle of the day, and then his wife. Jumping the whole Reichstage Fire by a “Communist terrorist” and going straight to political prisoners in Dachau. No Concordat with the Vatican, and I guess the Supreme Court made emergency decrees “Official Acts” without making DJT get Congressional approval. We have undeclared war with our neighbors Canada and Mexico (Poland and France) and Nuremberg Laws for Latinos. Nuremburg Rallies in ever smaller event spaces, and DJT has become like Fidel: braying like an ass on all the radio and TV 24/7, because he thinks he is witty, deep, profound, an intellectual, and a spellbinding, hypnotic speaker. Hey, Donnie! Adolf used to spend hours practicing in front of a mirror. So did Peron, Benito, Francisco, Tito, Admiral Horvath, Ataturk, Mosely, and most other tin pots who had cults of personality. Papa Doc…who knows what he and the Ton Ton Macoutte were doing at midnight in the Graveyard with the Sect Rouge? Donnie, you will never be Duvalier, cause you haven’t practiced voodoo all your life, and the Serpent is gonna bite your ass (literally) for that. Just realize, when you find the dead chicken on the threshhold of Mar-a-Lago, and there is nothing on the camera, and the security didn’t see or hear anything, your juju is gonna be gone, and Putin ain’t gonna have your soul anymore. You are gonna be a slave for Papa Legba. Lots of practitioners of Santoria in Florida, and you and ICE done got them upset at you.

Yes, Robyn, I am horrified at what Zombie Donald is going to do to us all. We ain’t seen nothin yet.

This whole "illegal" immigration "problem" is total and utter BU.LLSHIT! It is contrived misrepresented, misreported and fabricated, period, There ju.st ain't no such problem.

I am old enough to have actually known quite a few people who were part of the great wave of immigrants from Eastern Europe in the late 19th and early 20th century Many lived into their dying days , aged 85 -100 without ever fully completing the process. Why? simply because the process is overly complicated., and most times never really looked at. I could cite Mary Trump as one case.

Most "illegals" are not border jumpers, but rather people who entered legally but got lost in the administrative process Something which could be readily remedied rather than making it a political football;

My Republican state senator in Georgia told me that one has to be basically independently wealthy in order to get through the naturalization process.

And it's not about "law'n order," it's about maintaining the white majority and punishing dark-skinned people.

And the goddamn Extreme Court OK'd targeting based on skin color. ... You know, the guys who claim there's no more racism in holy 'Murka.

Really excellent deep dive today at Opening Arguments by immigration lawyer Matt Cameron (who is wonderful and I wish he was on a better legal podcast bc Thomas Smith is insufferable). But this is worth a listen:

Far too many people, a lot of libs included, just can’t bring themselves to admit that we are living under a fascist regime. As long as they aren’t the ones being ground under the boot, they think that this will all blow over the next election.

Just like everyone did back in 2020.

Now Trump was emotionally a 5-year-old when Barron was born (and still is really).

Shouldn't that be investigated ? . . .

Donald Trump has recounted an exchange in which, according to his telling, medics at Walter Reed cautioned him that his cognitive test results could be “embarrassing” if he did not perform well. He shared the anecdote at a rally as he works to demonstrate his fitness for office. The exam was his third annual check-up at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, held in May.

Trump recounted the story at a rally in Sioux City, Iowa, ahead of the midterms, telling supporters he took the cognitive assessment and aced it. The anecdote, as he tells it, underscores how high he says the stakes of the test were for a man weeks from his 80th birthday.

Speaking at Sioux Gateway Airport, Trump described the conversation with the medical team in his own words. “You know if I didn’t do well, I would have had a disaster on my hands, right? That’s what they told me,” he said, per the Daily Star. “They said, ‘Well, sir, if you do well, it’s great. If you don’t … it may be embarrassing to you.'”

He also walked the crowd through the kind of questions he faced, describing a prompt to identify one animal from a list that included a lion, a snake, a giraffe, and a bear, along with a string of mental arithmetic he says he was asked to perform. “I did it three times. And you know I got no credit,” he told the amused audience.

Why the transparency questions persist

Presidential health disclosures are filtered through the White House and must be approved by the president himself, a system that has long left room for doubt regardless of who occupies the office. As the Associated Press has noted, administrations release selected results, and the public sees only what the president allows.

I imagine this will come up when someone tries to get all the pardons thrown out, on the grounds Trump wasn't mentally competent, or they were just using the autopen and he didn't even know about it.
