I was making a comment on somebody's statement concerning their work as a lawyer. As a former pediatric oncologist I find myself with hobbies and fewer cases. That's part of the reason behind emigrating and changing to GP/Pediatrics. I could not handle the job as I used to. I think it was that last amputation of a 4 year old's legs. Royal Navy grog rule? It's 5:01 pm somewhere.

Yo

Parlez-vous High-Grade Dysplasia? Because after reading that on a family members Path Report last week,I didn’t need any more coffee.

Oh wait there’s more “malignant neoplasm” that’s a knee-slapper!

Turns out the final “non-invasive” got my tachycardia to settle down

It wasn’t noon but I was sorely tempted to break the Royal Navy grog Rule

They use a lot of dye in those cakes we like, apparently.

I don't think I've ever eaten anything colored like that.

Beets, now.... Those will dye both poo and pee a delightful bright magenta if you ingest enough. Fun with urinals!!

I wouldn't have either, because eeek, poo, but I experienced it personally.

Thanks! I literally would never have thought of that....

LOL! I love classical music, but I'm nowhere near skilled enough to play it. I'm envious! I have only one superpower, and that is perfect pitch. So, when I was playing the double-bass(did it for fun for 3 lessons), my inability to control the quarter-tones drove me mad. Playing electric bass in a grungy rock band is more like blunt force than perfection, and playing jazz and classical music definitely takes more skill and is so much more refined.

Ah, you’re what we call an inadvertent microtonalist!

And no — it was a prototype PRS BASS. One of the early ones handmade in MD.

Right now I’m hooked on Bach and Shostakovich but I’ve played everything but Klezmer.

It is indeed, a marvelous instrument. It kicked my ass for sure. Even though I was very respectful, LOL! It's got quarter-tones and stuff! I hope you got a lot of money for that PRS. They are marvelous guitars...I have one of their baritone guitars(it sounds great!) that I plan to use as an adjunct to my bass playing. And thank you for informing me of the proper name of the stand-up! Double bass.

What is your favourite music to play?

Our_Man_In_Redneckistan's avatar

Thank you very much. I played porkchop semiprofessionally for 19 years but after I finally followed through on a longstanding threat to take up the doghouse it just didn’t interest me any more. I sold them all — three Alembics, three Sadowskys, a prototype Paul Reed Smith and an Earthwood Bass. Yeah. I was hooked.

The doublebass is a marvelous instrument that will kick your ass good if you don’t approach it with humility and respect. Just making the bow do what I want it to will keep me busy for the rest of my life.

What a great birthday you gave your daughter! She is a lovely young lady. You have taught her well..generosity and empathy are two qualities that make for a wonderful human being.

Do you play stand-up and electric, or stand-up bass only? I'm a bassist, too. Mr. 798 is a part time luthier. One of my bass teachers played his stand-up at our lessons, while I laboured on with my electric bass. I couldn't believe how loud the stand-up bass is! I tried playing it a few times, but the lack of frets doomed me every time.

I'm taking a tiny bit of comfort from someone who is a lawyer, saying that sometimes the judge will be unnecessarily harsh towards the side that they favour, to avoid accusations of impropriety.

(I say that with absolutely no degree of certainty.)
