I set up my camera on the window ledge and knelt down, and when the explosions started, pressed the shutter and let it snap about 20 frames.When I stood up, there was a hole in the window at about the level of my forehead, and we found a chunk of copper about the size of my thumb on the desk behind me. When I had the photos developed and printed (yes, it was that long ago), I could see a copper-colored blur in about 3 of the frames, getting bigger each time.So if I'd been standing up to take those pictures, I might not be here today to bore you with this story.
I wanted to! But GSA took it away and said that they needed to collect any debris like that to present to the demolition company for reimbursement. They said they'd try to give it back to me, but I never saw it again.
