Considering all the marriages and divorces in this extended shitstorm of a "family," you'd think they'd be more cautious with their criming. Ugly divorces tend to lead to one party trying to burn the other to the ground.
This is not about protecting the kids, which is an absolute given, it was more about exposing things like inclusion of other people's code and reckless use of data where exposure would have put other people and their data at risk.
Currently my school district is in an uproar over maybe cutting the elementary G&T program in the name of diversity, and parents are losing their shit because, see, their kid deserves all the things G&T gives kids! Like getting academics as at their level, and access to more field trips, and supplemental materials.
Meanwhile I'm over here like, those are things we should give EVERY kid, you idiots, not just your kid -- you're just afraid that without the label, your (cough, white, cough) kid will get the shitty education you're totally fine with other (cough, Black and brown, cough) kids getting. But rather than demanding the public education budget go through the roof, you're like, this is fine, just make sure the lion's share goes to my kid, and how dare you call me racist.
My kid's in the G&T program, and I feel like I'm very unpopular in the parent FB group for some reason!
(Though if you really want high quality for everyone, outlaw private schools entirely and see how fast the money pours into the public school budget!)

My kids went to one of those fancy private schools** (on scholarship) and let me tell you fancy private schools do not have G&T* bc the rich parents whose kids don't end up in G&T will pitch a fucking fit. In fact my kids, who were legit gifted (skating and piano) were discouraged from sharing their quite remarkable successes bc the kids whose parents were donors didn't have those things. Oh, all in the name of "equity" of course.
* and yes, when you have the kinds of resources that a $50K education can buy, every kid looks pretty fucking G&T because it's not about the gift it's about the fucking money.
