Nice gif Martini. Here's a photo from a few years back doing an inspection of the Seattle Aquarium.

The "t" is silent. French and Portuguese both write more letters than they tend to pronounce a lot of the time. They are not alone among the languages of our world in that, of course.

I have bizarrely excellent French pronunciation in real life.

It was just a joke.

"Alpha males" don't even dominate wolf societies, even though that's where the notion originated from. Y'see, idiot researchers observed wolves in captivity which were all unrelated and pretty much randomly grouped together by humans and just assumed that what they saw was how they behaved in the wild. Turns out they were completely wrong, what a shock. And who could possibly have predicted that bad actors would seize on this shitty science to push a fascist/eugenicist agenda?

I sometimes think there should be some sort of liscensing requirement to become a working scientist.

"Is La Marseillaise the most hardcore national anthem ever written?"

I'm pretty sure it is. Especially when you read all the verses.

Is has even been banned (and later reinstated) in France more than once.

The Casablanca clip - the young woman whose tears are such a memorable feature was in fact a refugee IRL. She knew exactly who the enemy was, and those tears were real (and I'm pretty sure unscripted.)

Did you realize that the guy who crashed his Tesla Truck into the ICE trucks did it on PURPOSE to help protect the farm workers? At least that's what the guy commenting said in the video. So no "whoopsie." This was an act of courage.

So many ads for manly-man body washes and colognes on my streaming services these days got me thinking that if they want the real macho manly-man smells, they'd have colognes and washes like "Campfire" (cedar wood essential oil and Liquid Smoke(t/r/c)), "Speedway" (burnt rubber and leaded exhaust fumes), "Gym Sweat" (gym sweat), "Truck Stop" (urinal cakes and motor oil). I was thinking "Latrine" would be a good name for a French-inspired body wash, but couldn't decide on the scent profile. Now I need to find an investor.
