You seem to think the "free" in free-market is related to "freedom."

Unfortunately, Rubio's/GOP definition of "free" is closer to <i>jus primae noctis</i> for Job Creators

Every once in a great while I'll go on there just to antagonize the morons. The other day I caught one of them (most of them actually, they're not very original) babbling about Obama's teleprompter on a Rubio story. They got quite upset when I pointed out that Rubio used a teleprompter for the GOP response. I just thank the Gods that those drooling idiots don't actually represent mainstream America.

Youc can't have cognitive dissonance without the cognitive part. That's why Rubio can talk like this for hours.

It’s nice to know that brown republicans are no different than white republicans other than the number of them.

During the State of the Union speech, President Obama quoted John F. Kennedy. The Kennedy Administration got legislation pased to raise the Federal minimum wage to $1.25 an hour by September 1965. Today it's $7.25 - that increase is less than 3.75% per year.

Clearly it has not kept pace with the rising cost of living.

Meanwhile, the right wing nutz should take a look at Henry Ford. He paid his workers five dollars a day when no other manufacturer came close. He got the best employees, they were very productive - and they could afford to purchase Ford cars!

OT: can you get steak and kidney pie in New York? Because I wish I'd known that on my one visit. I can get the kidneys down here, but since my cooking skills are worse than King Alfred's, that doesn't help much.

I agree completely; it's only fair that workers be encouraged to bargain collectively, since they're up against very self-interested managers who conspire so effectively against them.

Because that would be like telling a toddler he can't have any more chocolate. There'd be an immediate screaming fit from the captains of industry, and then they'd sulk and refuse to do their important work of <strike>screwing their labor force</strike> pardon me, creating jobs.

it's really fiendishly brilliant- use tax dollars to subsidize the slave wages so Wally World comes off as a hero for their low prices while all the rubes in flyover country piss and moan about their high taxes. It's a 2 for 1, billionaire gets to dump his operating costs onto the taxpayer and look good in the process while giving the rubes yet another reason to hate "big government". And sadly it works, because most of those morons are too stupid to realize that the REASON their taxes are so high is because they have to cover the difference in the pay scale of millions of their fellow working stiffs. It's the same scam the oil companies use- if people actually paid what a gallon of gas costs, once you figure in the subsidies, the security costs in the middle east and the environmental costs- they'd hate those oil companies instead of hating the government. But people are dumb and easily fooled and politicians are corrupt and easily bought so...
