Mardi Gras Poll Porn! Joe Biden Got All The Beads, Trump Ain't Got No Beads.

And by 'all the beads' we mean 'bigger approval rating.'

Happy Mardi Gras, everyone! Since it's 50 below in most of the country, and there is a pandemic, it is likely none of us is parading anywhere this afternoon, so stay inside and warm yourself up with the knowledge that President Joe Biden's approval rating is 62 percent, which is approximately 8,000 percent higher than anything Donald Trump ever achieved on a good day. (You know, like during one of his many Infrastructure Weeks.)

That's according to the new tracking poll from Politico/Morning Consult, which is ... OK, sorry, it's a mixed bag. We came into this post with the intention of writing you something all happy, and we can't actually deliver that, because America is still broken. According to the poll, fully 59 percent of Republicans want Trump to keep a "major role" in the Republican Party. And Trump's approval rating among Republicans is 81 percent. The good news is that according to Gallup, only 25 percent of Americans consider themselves Republicans, which makes us want to ask when Politico and others are going to stop reporting what "Republicans" think as if they are half the country.

Here's some more info from the poll:

BETTER NEWS: Trump's favorability rating in US American overall is a measly sad-weenus 34 percent, which is better than Mitch McConnell's (19 percent), but nowhere near that of Democrats in Congress (52 percent) or Speaker Nancy Pelosi (42 percent). Also, Vice President Kamala Harris's approval rating is 57 percent.

WORSER NEWS: If the GOP primary were today, 53 percent of Republicans would vote for the disgraced loser.

BETTER NEWS: Even after Trump was technically "acquitted" by the Senate, 58 percent of Americans support his second impeachment.

CONTINUING WITH BETTER NEWS: Fully 64 percent of Americans are not braindead, and say Trump is either "very responsible" (52 percent) or "somewhat responsible" (12 percent) for provoking the Capitol terrorist attack.

OH FUCK, U-TURN INTO BAD-NEWS-VILLE: Twenty-four percent of Americans think President Biden probably incited it, including 13 percent who say he is "very responsible." These are the brainwashed morons who believe Trump's Big Lie that Biden stole the election.

OH HERE'S A NICE ONE: We guess we can take solace in the fact that 87 percent of Americans agree that "the people who broke into the US Capitol" are at the very least "somewhat responsible" for, ahem, breaking into the US Capitol. (Seven percent of Americans are like NOPE. Which ... good luck to that seven percent, in all their future endeavors!)

Like we said, a mixed bag. But hey, it's not quite the hellscape it was just a few months ago, even with everything that's happened.

As Politico notes, part of President Biden's very big huge large-handed approval rating is because of his "near universal support among Democrats (92%) and a surprisingly strong showing among Republicans (20%)." So maybe there is hope, of some kind?
