Westward Beach is just down the hill from my old Malibu house. I'd walk down there on nice days and get Mr. O to take me back home in the car because it is a very steep hill. The beach there was huge and is now gone. The road has collapsed before, most recently just four years ago after a couple of days of extraordinarily high high tides. It's the western flank of Point Dume which is truly a spectacular place. It makes me sick to see what has happened. A hoax, right?
If you wanna see some insane waves and the crazy surfers getting pounded, check out all the clips of the "Wedge" at Newport Beach this last week. Beach that had been there for years taken in chunks by the waves. Some idiot fishermen were out on the breakwater, I don't know how they survived.
Also, too, the "fake right turn": You sneak down the line of cars going straight, outside of the formal lane, like you're going to make a right turn. Then, when the light changes, you gun it to go straight, in front of the lead car.
There are many fine people living there. I was one of them. The dicks don't live there. They just own beachfront property and show up for a couple of weeks in the summer.

We went to the restaurant the character lived in the parking lot of a couple of years ago. Not even recognizable as a location, to me, and the joint was kind of a tourist trap.
