"We know that America is changing" brought to mind all those horror story conversations with your parents and the health nurse at school about puberty.

Also, that's now Canadian for "bless your heart".

Can individual states join the EU? Or Canada?

Notice how Carney also subtly pointed out that the name means Big Beautiful Lake.

Hot gossip from the world of comics!

Marvel and DC are in a bidding war to add the hottest possible superhero to emerge in decades to their roster.

Move over Logan! Canada has a new champion! Primo, The Amazing Prime Minister!

A soft-spoken nerd who knows a lot about economics by day! An AVENGING JUGGERNAUT OF JUSTICE when pissant bullies get too loud and proud!

Supposedly Archie Comics is also going to make a bid at the last second. But rumors like that can be safely ignored.

This non-resident Canadian fully supports this joining the EU idea.

Even if it does mean more French speaking people around.

(I'm kidding!)

I'm still impressed that Carney was sworn in on a Friday and was in France on Sunday, making negotiations with Europe for trade, defence and cheesemongering.

Best part of that election was watching Pee Pee lose his riding he had taken for granted for the last decade. He had to be parachuted into a safe riding here in Alberta so he could get back into the House of Commons as oppo leader... Qelle humiliation!

And my sister the marathon runner sent me a pic from the Toronto marathon that had a bystander holding the sign:

'If you lose this race, don't worry, you can always run again in Alberta!'

I made the same point on Faceborg that PP lost because he took his constituents for granted. Just about everybody agreed that he deserved to lose. This was a post where somebody was trying to claim his election loss was due to the trickery of the Libs. People just weren't buying it which is very unusual up here.

Facing an national threat seems to help people pay attention.

Which is poison for conservatives.

Also, substack automatically gave me a translation.

Interesting.

I'm going to have to put up with surly waiters next.

There better be good bread and cheese. Or I'm staying home.

Canada and Canadians, you deserve better than the present moment. Please accept my apologies on behalf of semi-sane Americans, and this little appreciation, Substack-style, if you like.

Well, Canada used to be called British America so maybe they should revert to their old name, eh?

No, that was all the colonies. We were BNA, as in the name of legislation giving us independence.

I woke to very sad news this morning. King Harald V of Norway has passed.

He was such a kind and loving human. I watched a speech of his, talking about Norway, and 'Who Norwegians Are.'

One line absolutely made me cry:

"Norwegians are girls who love girls, boys who love boys, and girls and boys who love each other"

Wonderful. Just a beautiful, loving human. Loving all.

His son is terrific, and he's a great person as well, but I have admit I'll miss this special person, and I cried this morning for Norway's, and the world's loss.

Norway's royal family demonstrate an example we would ALL do well to follow.

"Five years from now, when Canada is for all practical purposes a full EU member state,"

This morning a video popped up in my feed of a speech by Carney explaining that Canada is now the most connected nation in the world. (By that he means Canada has trade pacts with more nations than anyone else.)

He ends by saying that Canada can make these pacts because when we say we're gonna do something, we fucking do it. (That may not be an exact quote.)

For folks in the back, that's a comment about Trump's America.

Massive respect to our honorable northern neighbors.

I spent a large portion of my childhood in Canada watching my dad play hockey. Ever since I can remember I've thought of Canada as my home away from home; I truly love the place and the people beyond all measure.

Damn, I’d love it if Canada joined the EU. I’m one of those thousands of Americans with Canadian ancestry trying to score a passport, and if I manage to succeed in my push for dual nationality it would be really, really cool to be able to travel between Canada and Europe and stay within the Schengen Zone.
