Margaret River area, south west of West Australia. Dairy cows in my youth, tourists and vineyards these days.

This reminds me of the tab the Editrix once shared with us containing a teevee ad from a guy who "refurbished" mobile homes that had "too much history". He and his family cleaned them up, fixed the damage and made great deals on cheap mobile homes.

Usually he bought the trailers cheap because what needed cleaning up was large amounts of blood. The fixing up involved patching bullet holes in the walls. He always replaced the appliances because obviously he had to.

Oh man, I’m sorry. I’m hoping it’s gout, because I’d be worried that an infection could spread, although hopefully the antibiotics will handle that. Best of luck to you!

Something niggles at me that somebody here recently said they'd been there or had property nearby. At any rate, it's not too far from the People's Republic of Asheville, a notorious den of free-thinkers and liberalism in Western NC which is otherwise as red as it gets. I'd be shocked if there are no Wonkers there.

Scaly is as you describe it, an exceptionally small rural community. The mountain part of the name is a product of the local chamber of commerce, which is that one guy who sells apples on the side of the road.

Scaly Mountain is more accurately a hill, being no more than 300 or so feet of granite rock bald, which is kind of a distinguishing geological feature of that part of NC.

I think the Dems should demand that the NC vote be audited. The rule is when you see one cockroach, that means the place is crawling with them....But I doubt the Dems would do that because they are wimps.

The previous owner, who wouldn’t give the New Yorker her name, currently lives in Florida.

Tiny quibble - the previous owner of the trailer home didn’t want her name used in the article, but TNY knows who she is. She is a real person and anybody who wanted to look up the property records for that address could easily find out her name.
