Considering their joyless take on life, I can't imagine any fuck for a Republican wouldn't be a hate fuck.

A friend who's a Republican with a landline gets tons of phone surveys during election season. They're all automated (because Republicans aren't going to pay someone to ask questions and record the answers), and the first question is always, "Are you pro life or pro choice? Press 1 for pro life and 2 for pro choice."

He presses 2, and the response is, "Thank you for your time." Click.

Wouldn't they have to wait like five years before they could apply?

We meet virtually all the criteria apart from the Euro. With goodwill on both sides, and there is, there wouldn't be much of a problem but it wouldn't be on the same terms the UK is on. Let's never forget that Pig Fucking Davie screwed more concessions out of the EU only months before he called the referendum.

Asheville's an oasis of blue hippiedom surrounded by an island of religious nutbaggery. My family was originally from a town in SC right over the border from NC. If you go to Greenville, SC, which is only 45 minutes from Asheville, you'll be in a town that boasts Bob Jones University (or BJ University as I like to think of it), which only allowed interracial dating in the early 2000s. Greenville has becoming more cosmopolitan, but it's still definitely "faith, firearms, and family" country.

The two most popular tourist destinations in SC and NC are Charleston and Asheville. I get a kick out of it that they are both solid blue. Any place that people want to go to is Democratic. You'd think Republicans would figure that out.

The McSally ad predictably compares her negatively to John McCain.

Pedant time! In this sentence, I probably would have said "The McSally ad predictably contrasts her with John McCain." I think that verb more clearly conveys that they were portrayed as dissimilar.

I graduated from CofC, and now I'm attending classes there, again. I'm in the SAME classrooms I was in 40 years ago. It's a little weird.

You'll have to give me a shout out when you come down. I was supposed to get together with "WhatPierreSaid" a few weeks ago, but she never contacted me. She was here for work, so I guess she just got really busy.

That's a good location. There are some coastal cottages that are over near Patriot's Point that I always thought would be really cool to stay in, but I'd be afraid to ask what the price would be in April.

I just asked! I checked the prices, and it was a mere $685 per night. These photos don't do them justice, because they are super cute. https://www.thecottagesonch...

I do an Airbnb, but it's pretty bare bones, and you probably want something a bit more upscale.

Have you been to Grace and Grit restaurant over by I'on?

Goldwater mellowed (slightly) at the end of his life, and surprised a lot of people by calling for an end to the ban on gays in the military in the 1990s, when he was in his 80s. (Having a gay grandson made it real for him). A lot of GOP members were saying he lost his marbles there at the end, when he endorsed a woman Democrat for Congress over a conservative Christian. https://www.washingtonpost....
