Maryland Dem Has No Idea How That Racism Fell Out Of Her Mouth!
She'd warned fellow lawmaker about campaigning in 'n word' district, but un-Bowdlerized.
Maryland Democrat Mary Ann Lisanti finally fessedup Tuesday to using a racial epithet to describe a legislative district in predominantly black Prince George's County. She's been stripped of her leadership position and will take some BS "sensitivity training." Maybe she'll also watchRoots.
Last month, Lisanti was kicking back at an Annapolis cigar bar, where nothing positive ever happens. She told another white lawmaker that when he campaigned for someone in Prince George's, he was "door-knocking on a n---r district." She must've been so wasted she'd forgotten to use the appropriate gentrification euphemisms like "sketchy" or "poor schools." Delegate Jay Walker, who is black and represents the n---r district in question, witnessed Lisanti's use of the slur. Things escalated, as they are wont to do, from there.
Maryland's Legislative Black Caucus confronted Lisanti on Monday about her comments. Just to clarify, black caucuses don't exist just to counsel wayward white racists. Lisanti had originally told the Washington Post that she didn't remember saying anything racist that night or frankly how she even managed to get undressed for bed without strangling herself. It was quite a party.
LISANTI: "I don't recall that. . . . I don't recall much of that evening."
By the way, Lisanti is a member of the House Economic Matters Committee, which hears legislation that deals with alcohol , banking and insurance. When asked whether she'd ever used the n-word, her response was both ridiculous and hilarious.
LISANTI: "I'm sure I have. . . . I'm sure everyone has used it. I've used the f-word. I used the Lord's name in vain."
Not even goddamn David Duke uses the fucking n-word as casually as the average person takes the Lord's name in vain and drops f-bombs. Lisanti must be hella racist. However, her public statement of apology insists she's the least racist person you ever met and she has no idea how all that racism fell out of her mouth.
"I deeply apologize . . . for my word choice several weeks ago," Lisanti, 51, said in a statement. "I am sickened that a word that is not in my vocabulary came out of my mouth. It does not represent my belief system, my life's work or what is my heart."
Didn't Lisanti admit she's casually used the n-word? It's obviously in her vocabulary unless she has some sort of brain disorder. She also didn't just call Walker "my n-word" or spontaneously perform the "dead n-word storage" monologue from Pulp Fiction . She literally advised someone not to set foot in a predominately black neighborhood. That does in fact "represent [her] belief system." We also don't care what's in her heart. Why do racists keep talking about their hearts? Go see a cardiologist.
Black folks are understandably peeved. Lisanti has "prayed for forgiveness" and pledged to do everything she can to "help heal that pain and regain [their] trust," but we mostly would prefer she go do something not in our vocabulary.
Before her election to Maryland's General Assembly, Lisanti served two terms on the Harford County Council. She also worked as city manager in Havre de Grace. These areas all had acceptable concentrations of n-words.
