Oh, I actually heard this one. The guy said the poor deserved everything that happened to them because they were "genetically inferior". Haven't spoken to him for forty years.

And since prison food and housing are of negative value, basic algebra ...

I used to hear that in the '70s in northern Michigan. Of course none of the people who said that had ever MET a black person (the first black family ever moved into our town in 1976), much less interacted with them, and the entirety of their knowledge of genetics probably predated Watson and Crick.

seems to me they are holding him hoping to get more evidence so they do not have a third acquittal

We only have a stipulation on how long you can hold someone before charged with a crime

Not to mention that DEA has trained cops to regard everyone as a criminal. None of us are innocent, in their eyes

"Wait, you don't have a legal limit on how long you can hold someone without a trial?!"----------------------Gets worse than that in the u.s. There is no legal amt of time a police can detain u while conducting an investigation in some cities.

"If some creep kidnapped a white woman and held her in his basement for 10 years, we would all understand that he committed a crime. We would all be horrified that someone could do that to another human being. We would be devastated that someone lost so many years of their life. Getting them out of there would be considered an emergency." I wouldn't limit it to only the DEA... I'd guess it's every policing authority. Personal biases come into the picture... Living through the 60-70's, is more than enough evidence of that concept.

Abolish the police. They are all violent, racist rat basterds and so are the DAs. Abolish the police and dismantle the for-profit criminal injustice system. Fuck them and fuck their apologists.

I used to believe that, but lately I'm not so sure anymore.

The criminal injustice system in this country has been violating our rights, imprisoning and murdering us at will for a very long time now - and it's been my observation that absolutely no one has the stomach for doing what's necessary to get free. It's a Herculean task just getting them off their lazy cynical asses to vote. Well, I hope they don't believe that their passivity will somehow protect them because it won't. It never has in other dictatorships.

I genuinely believe that's more a function of the economic hostage situation we're in than the police part of the police state. People can't afford to get free. However: more of my friends are involved in extralegal means of fund-raising, recreation, etc than ever before.
