I always say that Obama was the best Republican president since Eisenhower.Nixon, of all people, had planned to push in his second term health care legislation that likely would have been similar to Romney/ObamaCare. Reagan, Bush Jr. and Trump ran massive deficits Eisenhower never would have stood for.
"Give 911 Dispatchers More Options" is probably an even worse slogan than "Defund the Police", but that's closer to what most people actually want. Right now, the options are pretty limited:
1: No response needed.2: Fire: Roll a fire truck (and usually a squad car, to manage crowds and traffic).3: Medical emergency: Roll an ambulance (and usually a squad car, to manage crowds and traffic).4: Everything else: Roll a squad car.
Rolling a squad car is absolutely appropriate for a lot of situations, but (4) covers a loooot of ground. Many of which are things cops aren't trained to handle, or are so far removed from typical policing that cops don't like to do them. Or are situations where someone with a firearm on their hip trying to control the situation, will just make things worse.
So, yeah: police when needed, and someone else when appropriate.
The idea is depressing. As if we are such a feeble group, we have to betray our own allies-- the most appreciated ones. Why oh why, when the entire engine driving all this rage and mania on the other side, is that that election was stolen-- WHY is it that all these wise men we've got--- all Democratic senators and congressional reps. and wiseacres and commenters could not get organized to convince the other side that that's a LIE.? Don't say they wouldn't listen. I never heard a concerted effort to turn it back. Those Trump followers respect and respond to authoritative action but there was none! Nobody joked about it, nobody made a giant speech about it, nobody explained how elections work from time immemorial, nobody did anything. Just the mope Trump and his gang of middle aged teenagers, and look where we are.And everyday fifty people get in my face expecting me to send them money to fix it.
