Apparently, Turner thought if he just kept saying “Obama” and “march toward nuclear” he could Jedi mind trick Stephanopoulos into blaming Obama for closing the straight.
It's a wonderment to me how the people "supporting" the WH are even worse messengers than the syphilitic-brain commenter in chief. By comparison, the guys at the local carwash are eloquent, articulate compared with WH spokespeople.
Anyhow, NYT SANEWASHES trump's insane Easter Iran post. Daily Kos has reprinted a BlueSky message comparing the NYT report of trump's profanity with the actual [truth social, TS] post. NYT "quotes" trump incorrectly by leaving out the profanity. So much for reporting actual news. NYT is editing reality to make trump look less insane than he is.
Thanks for pointing this out. I've seen similar myself recently when Trump talked about the gift that Iran gave him, that it was a very great prize but he wouldn't say what it was (until the next day, when he did of course, and it was some oil tankers). And he said, because this very valuable gift came, he knew he was talking to the right people, to the top people in Iran. It was completely bonkers, but what got me was how it was cut when I watched a news report on a local ABC affiliate's YouTube. They had a whole report about Iran, said the president was negotiated with Iran and cut in the clip that said, "we're talking to the top people in Iran." It really brought home that there must be a lot of people that consume that type of news solely, and they are being shown a completely distorted picture of Trump just by how his quotes are edited.
From NYT: Trump said he believes that God supports the United States actions in the war against Iran. “God is good,” the president said.
Asked about the possibility of regime change in Iran, Trump responded by saying that Americans should trust him on the war. “I have the best plan of all,” Trump said. “But I’m not going to tell you what my plan is.”
From HuffPost: NYT reporter: “Are you concerned that your threat to bomb power plants and bridges amounts to war crimes?” “No, not at all,” said Trump. “No. No, no. I hope I don’t have to do it.”
The more it plays out, the demise of CBS News looks like a near-perfect example of the legacy erasing results of the corporate passing over of Generation X. Greatests and Boomers, IMO, rather than shepherding in Xers to continue the traditions into the next generation, basically hoarded the reins of power. When they no longer recognized the world around them, they didn't even realize that there was a cohort that knew the old world and the new, that had gone from four channels to infinite choices, that had gone from #1 pencils to DOS to the ubiquity of tech and mastered all of it, they just looked at the kids who never knew the old world and figured maybe they got it. So, instead of giving more control or oversight to someone like Sharyn Alfonsi, who cared and grew up within the system CBS turned to know-nothing Bari Weiss, who is only contemptuous of it. Yes, there is an ideological component, but it all boils down to vanity.
This is biting America in the ass economy-wide. Gen X'ers are nearing retirement, and there's nobody to take our place.
I turn 60 this year. I had my first job that withheld Social Security when I was 11 years old (no child labor restrictions in farmwork). At that time, about 1977, the constant drumbeat was that there are far more workers than jobs, and you can and will be replaced immediately for no reason at all, or if you smart off, or if you want more money or a longer break.
As a result, by the time I got into career-type jobs, the last thing I was going to do was train in my cheaper, younger, replacement. Heck no. I was going to cling to this job to the last moment I could before jumping ship to a better gig.
Now I'm seeing 60-somethings leaving work, and 20-somethings replacing them; with no training, experience, or understanding of any overall context. The 20-somethings aren't dumb. They're not unskilled. They just haven't had any chance to work their way up, learning as they go.
And now of course, my age-cohort peers who are now Executive/Owners, are shocked and angry that there's nobody waiting in the wings to take over.
Well, you chased away everybody instead of training them up. That worked out for you/us personally, but now there are more jobs than workers, and nobody ready to step in.
Actually, I'm looking at as ultimately conservative--we could have preserved things that were worth keeping that they don't even know about. In ten years people are going to have a problem in need of a solution that used to exist, saying "there should be a way to do ___," and I'll be retired, drinking my Lipton tea with Kermit. Not that I won't tell someone who asks my opinion, but it won't be my problem.
Apparently, Turner thought if he just kept saying “Obama” and “march toward nuclear” he could Jedi mind trick Stephanopoulos into blaming Obama for closing the straight.
orange anus: ''when crazy people have nuclear bombs, bad things happen.'' such self-reflection...

Turner is a waste of oxygen.

I forget - is Russia bombing power plants OK because the Ukrainian military also uses power? Asking for a friend…

That would be the triune Republican God of Greed, Ignorance, and Violence.
Markwayne is doing a helluva job boosting morale over at DHS

Mike Turner: "NEW-cue-lar".
That's Republican brain power and rhetorical power at work. A real statesman.
I grew up in Los Alamos, NM.
I know how to pronounce the word NUCLEAR.
It drives me CRAZY when I hear it mispronounced.
FFS!! IT'S RELATED TO THE NUCLEUS OF THE ATOM!! PRONOUNCE IT LIKE THAT!!!
GWB was the fuckin' WORST!
I promise not to say 'newkalare.'
To be fair, Jimmy Carter also used the NEW-cue-lar pronunciation, and he was an actual nuclear engineer.
And it's the Strait of Hormuz. Not "Straits". There's only one.
And it's the Book of Revelation. Not Revelations.
And don't get me started on those Two Corinthians.
So 2 Corinthians and a camel walk into a bar. The bartender is a MAGA and says to .......... Sorry. That is as far as I got.
OT:
I can see that Chump is, unfortunately, still alive.
Hope springs eternal.
I lost ten bucks on that.
The other day I tried to bet my grandson on something for $100. But he would only
go $5. I said "You shoulda bet the Benny. I'll probably die before you gotta pay me."
Poor kid was speechless. He don't know it yet, I'm giving him a story to tell at my
funeral. Dumb kid, I'll probably have to assplain that too. Nice kid, a little slow.
Not bad.
I lost my will to live....
I found mine under my desk. The dog mustave kicked it over.
I have just enough to share, friend. Better times are coming.

Exactly
Weiss got the job because she sucked up to the rich guy who bought the network. Full stop.
There's nothing mysterious or profound about it. It's how she gets most of her jobs. Sucking up is the new merit.
Sure, but I'm not looking at it as one incident
Golf balls and garden hoses.
I remember when there were 2 1/2 channels: NBC, CBS, and ABC was learning.
Yeah.
They should have done better by us.
We're pretty rebellious, and we could have improved things. That's what rebels do.
Actually, I'm looking at as ultimately conservative--we could have preserved things that were worth keeping that they don't even know about. There is that.
OT:
"Trump: U.S. airman treated his own wounds."
Wow. That downed guy has balls.
Salute.
Unlike our cowardly commander in chief who used bone spurs to avoid the draft.
TBF, he was miles away from his approved in-network facility
I've been hit with out-of-network charges. I understand.
Well what the hell are you supposed to do when there is not one else to treat the wounds?
Yeah.
